Matso's Sunshine Coast

Matso’s Sunshine Coast brings a beloved Broome spirit to Eumundi, opening its doors on 22 December 2023 and breathing new life into the historic Joe’s Waterhole. Its careful renovation honours the classic Queensland pub bones while showcasing what Matso’s does best: fresh beer brewed on-site. With a new brew kit gleaming behind the bar, the full range flows from the taps, from icons like Matso’s Ginger Beer and Matso’s Mango Beer to a roll call of limited-release and seasonal pours.

The kitchen keeps pace with a menu led by local ingredients and easy-going flavour. Think bright, Japanese-leaning small plates nudging into slow-cooked comforts and familiar pub favourites: perhaps beef tataki lifted with daikon and ponzu, togarashi-spiced calamari, a golden chicken katsu curry, or a deeply savoury braised beef cheek with coconut and lemongrass. Pizzas arrive hot and generous, while desserts swing citrusy with a warm lemon caprese torte or keep it classic with local ice cream.
