Charcoal Restaurant sits in the heart of Hobart, pairing sweeping mountain views with a kitchen that celebrates Tasmania’s seasons.
Located within RACV Hobart, it serves with quiet confidence, pouring local wines and letting fresh seafood and regional produce take centre stage, from early starts to late-evening rendezvous. The mood is polished but easygoing - ideal for a special night out, a quiet celebration or simply a well-earned glass of something local!
Flavour here is modern yet grounded, with a focus on the grill. A Cape Grim MSA steak meets the coals with purpose, while crisp Scottsdale pork belly finds harmony in celeriac purée and port jus.
Lighter moments include pan-seared scallops lifted with orange gremolata, and sweet potato gnocchi wrapped in aubergine ragout. Even the opening notes show care: stone-ground sourdough to tear and share, and olives glossed in house citrus marinade.
Finish with a dark chocolate and cherry torte softened by pistachio crème, or keep things classic with an affogato tipped with a favourite Tasmanian liqueur.
Whether settling in for breakfast or lingering over dinner, raise a glass to the island’s bounty and let Charcoal turn simple fire into fine feeling.
