In the storybook main street of Hahndorf, The Haus Restaurant blends rustic heart with polished ease. From first light to late evening, it hums indoors and out, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Its compass points firmly to South Australian produce, with the Adelaide Hills as both larder and backdrop. Timber, warmth and village charm set the tone for gatherings of all stripes, from lingering brunches to celebrations and slick conferences in flexible, contemporary spaces with state-of-the-art facilities.

On the plate, German heritage leads the dance: a trio of wurst with a tang of sauerkraut and braised pork hock that nods to tradition. Local stories thread through, from roasted Barossa Valley pork belly brightened by pineapple chilli chutney to the Strathalbyn ‘Gold’ lamb shank sinking into creamy potato mash. The kitchen roams with confidence, too, brushing harissa across char-grilled chicken, tossing salt and pepper squid through a fresh Asian salad, and taking a playful detour with margherita and smoked paneer tikka pizzas.

Glasses are equally well travelled, from sparkling and crisp whites to blushing rosé and generous reds, alongside a considered array of gin and tonic pairings. Whether it is a wedding, a workshop or simply a long lunch, the welcome is professional and warm. Book a table, bring good company and let the Hills work their charm—prost to delicious days.
