Set amid eucalyptus trees and landscaped gardens in Hahndorf, Sidewood Restaurant brings a warm, contemporary spirit to the table.

Inside, giant Victorian ash trusses and local stone flooring establish the architectural tone, softened by caramel leather banquettes and a thoughtful collection of Australian art.

In the kitchen, South Australian produce takes centre stage with woodfired pizzas served for lunch. The classic Margherita balances Roma tomato, basil and baby bocconcini with a flourish of Parmesan, while pepperoni pairs salami and black olives with a lick of chilli honey.

Prefer a confit garlic base? The fungi pizza leans earthy with mushrooms, provolone, rocket and truffled pecorino, while melanzane brings together fried eggplant, red capsicum harissa and smoked almonds. Keep the conversation lively with the Crust-Dippers Trio of tzatziki, harissa and sriracha aioli.

This garden-meets-modern setting makes the venue as fitting for casual lunch catch-ups as for special occasions. Book in for a leisurely midday feast, stay for one more slice, and let the good times roll - crust and all!
