Perched on Sydney’s renowned Finger Wharf in Woolloomooloo, Bellevue Woolloomooloo marries French craft with a whisper of Japanese influence. The mood's refined yet relaxed, ideal for lingering over harbour and city views while the kitchen sketches in broad, elegant strokes.
Bread arrives as a quiet overture - sourdough country bread or artisan baguette with sweet butter and sharp olive oil - before playful snacks set the tone: Wagyu truffle croquettes with wasabi aioli, Japanese eel and foie gremolata tartlets, and tender pork belly bites in sweet-spicy ponzu.
Small plates, depth meets lightness: rich lobster miso bisque with spanner crab, zucchini flowers filled with goat stracciatella, and provincial Burgundy snails with watercress coulis.
Mains lean into comfort with finesse, from sage-crusted Koji chicken with kabocha pumpkin to a fillet of beef from Ranger’s Valley, enriched by velvet potatoes, thyme jus, and miso herb butter. Sides keep pace, whether velvet red potato purée or green beans tossed in eschalote and parsley butter.
To finish, classics come with a twist: soft-baked chocolate gateaux with dark cherries and vanilla ice cream, or lemon verbena panna cotta with plum and raspberry coulis.
Book a seat by the water and let the afternoon or evening glide by - it's a beautiful view, and a belle vue indeed!
