Claret Club brings a polished continental sensibility to a characterful two-storey terrace on bustling Stanley Street in the heart of Darlinghurst. Owned and run by two passionate hosts, it pairs warm hospitality with the talented cooking of head chef Andy Buchanan (ex-Dinner by Heston and Quay).

Two distinct moods live under one roof - an intimate dining room upstairs for unwinding over dinner, and a lively bar below where good conversation and counter-side selections set the scene. Within the restaurant, the tone's classic and seasonal, featuring an à la carte menu that suits a thoughtful three to four-course affair.

Here, the kitchen leans into classical European cuisine - house-made baguettes served with cultured butter, grilled scallops paired with nduja butter, pan-seared market fish with confit fennel and beurre blanc, and crown roast duck breasts accompanied by red cabbage and pickled plum.

Head downstairs, where the mood loosens. Walk-ins find a vibrant space filled with great food and generous plates built for sharing. Small bites include gnocco fritti with sage and anchovy, savoury Jersey curd and spaghetti squash tartlets, and venison tartare with beetroot and cocoa nib lavosh, complemented by market-driven dishes designed to be enjoyed together.
