A historic building becomes host to an authentic taste of Belgium in Perth. Yes, they might be worlds away, but The Abbey is bringing them together with centuries-old recipes and great Belgian beers.

A far cry from the comings and goings of the city, The Abbey enjoys a secluded corner of the Western Australian countryside that boasts a pristine garden and beautiful event spaces. The restaurant itself is a typical European bistro, keeping things rustic and cosy with a predominantly wooden interior and dark wooden furniture to match. During winter time, the fires are lit whilst in summer time, the shaded pavilion outside makes for an unbeatable spot to escape the afternoon sun.

But what exactly does this tiny little corner of Europe have to offer? Well, they might be small, but Belgium has oceans of culture that celebrate hearty food and world-class beer. Hearty plates include grilled gold band snapper, lamb cutlet and chicken parmigiana.

And how can you end a Belgian evening without a Belgian waffle? Tapping into our childish guilty pleasures, these crispy delicacies are topped with cream, ice cream and a sauce of your choice. Alternatively, a Baileys makes for a wonderful liquid dessert that needs little to no room.
