In Casuarina, Northern NSW, Lola's Mexican sets a relaxed cantina mood where modern flair meets beloved traditions. Weekends ease into an inviting rhythm, with cosy corners catching the last of the afternoon sun, and on-site childminding ensuring a genuinely family-friendly pace. It's the sort of spot where conversation lingers, and the menu does the storytelling.

From the kitchen, punchy flavours meet bright, coastal accents. Start with Dona Cholita's totopos made from local organic corn, perfect for dipping and sharing, or pan-seared octopus lifted by avocado ash and tomatillo salsa.

Tacos arrive individually, ranging from chargrilled pork belly with mango crema and pickled papaya to al pastor fish featuring charred adobo and pineapple salsa. Lamb braised in three chiles is finished with ricotta salata and pico de gallo, while the iconic cauli taco offers a clever twist.

Moving to larger plates, a little ceremony awaits: think chipotle BBQ chicken drizzled in pineapple barbecue sauce or smoked Wagyu brisket M+7 accompanied by birria jus, chimichurri, and esquites for hearty, hands-on feasting. Sides play their part too, from comforting Mexican rice to crispy chat potato served alongside jalapeño mayo.

Settle in, share widely, and let Lola's Mexican do the rest!
