dinner

In Brighton, Hobart, Tamarind comes into its own after dark. Warm lights, rich aromas and the gentle hum of conversation set the scene for an evening built around spice, comfort and good company.

The kitchen leans into bold Indian flavours, balancing tangy tamarind, cooling mint and the smoky heat of the tandoor. A house favourite, “Balls of Happiness,” layers crisp shells with potato and chickpeas, finished with yoghurt and tamarind for a burst of flavour in every bite. The tandoori chicken tikka arrives with a beautiful char and tender centre, straight from the clay oven.

For mains, classics hold their ground. Butter chicken comes rich and silky with its creamy tomato sauce, while lamb rogan josh carries deep, aromatic spice. Warm butter or garlic naan is there to tear through every last bit of sauce.

Settle in with friends, share a few dishes and let the night unfold slowly. At Tamarind, dinner is less about rushing through a meal and more about easing into the evening, one plate at a time.
