In Terrigal, Señor Habibi’s has found its rhythm with a swagger all its own: cheeky, warm and wonderfully hospitable. What began as a team feeling its way has settled into a confident groove, where guests are greeted like old friends and conversations stretch long into the evening.

The kitchen charts a sunny course across the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Mezes encourage exploration, from Sydney rock oysters lifted by rose water mignonette to grilled halloumi glossed with local ironbark honey and pistachio, or lentil kofta with mint yoghurt and a spark of pickled pepper.

Heartier plates include lamb adana kebabs on hummus with marash chilli, half roasted chicken brushed with harissa, honey and garlic toum, and slow-cooked half lamb shoulder in iskender style. Convivial sides such as twice-baked crispy patatas with hot brava sauce complete the experience, while smashed baklava offers a sweet finish.
