DUCKFAT in Brisbane reimagines French cuisine with a bold, avant-garde approach that deviates from traditional French dining. The ambiance of the restaurant is industrial and reminiscent of a modern art museum, providing a backdrop that complements its innovative and bold flavor profiles. This venue is designed to offer both a revolutionary dining experience and a daring culinary adventure that challenges and elevates traditional tastes.

Harking to the era of innovation and mad hat cookery, Duckfat operates by the motto "La Bonne Franquette", an old French expression that translates to 'good-naturedly' or simply - just being good. With a relaxed and stylised interior, inspired by a modern art museum and lowly 'bistro', it's a place to escape, to relax, to enjoy good food and good drink in good company. At Duckfat, the chefs want you to leave feeling content and brimming with delight.

The menu includes shared plates and larger plates for those with a heartier appetite. Smaller plates consist of classic French onion soup gratinée or Toulouse sausage with métisse sauce, while lovers of the classics will swoon over the chic, tender beef tartare with all the classic garnishes.

The bigger offerings are no less impressive, though - consider a tender steak and fries with truffle butter, Lucy Goose’s slow-cooked chicken a la Toulousaine or the lover’s heartbreak carbonara decked with house-made morcilla and Swiss Emmental cheese. Boy, it’s gonna be good. So, whether you’re a Francophile or just feeling like some down-right good food in a relaxed environment, head over to Duckfat on Commercial Road in Newstead. It’s the Bonne Franquette way...
