Casa Mia Osteria brings a slice of Italy to the heart of Newtown, wrapping Inner West energy in a cosy, wood-fired glow. The mood is warm and welcoming, the kind of neighbourhood spot where conversation hums and the oven sets the tempo. Rooted in a sustainable ethos, the kitchen leans on locally sourced produce to shape an honest, seasonal menu of wood-fired pizzas, homemade pasta and small plates that feel both familiar and refreshingly precise.

Flavours travel from the brightness of garlic prawns in olive oil and Napoletana sauce to the silken comfort of smoked burrata and prosciutto with tomato and basil. A buffalo margherita sings with tomato and milky mozzarella; a pepperoni arrives blistered and fragrant. Crisp rocket salad with walnut, pear and caciocavallo, or a classic Caesar salad with guanciale, pave the way for dolci: a cloud-light tiramisu or an affogato kissed with a splash of liqueur.

Drinks keep pace with ease: Italian beers, an inviting wine list by the glass or bottle, and classic cocktails. Settle in with a Negroni or a classic margarita and watch the street slip by. With weekly draws like Pizza Night and Pasta Night, and the option to dine in or take away, this is a local favourite for good reason. Pull up a chair, follow the aroma, and let la dolce vita lead the way.
