Contrary to its name, The Grumpy Italian is always pleased to see you. What's more, it's serving delicious family recipes that will make you grin from ear to ear.

Born from a family kitchen in which a very grumpy Italian resided, this eatery specialises in food that has been the mainstay of many homely dinner tables up and down the country. Their Marrickville branch is open and relaxed, basking in a chilled canteen vibe that affords everyone plenty of space in which to dine and recline. A contemporary fit-out, sky-high ceilings and quirky indoor picnic umbrellas make it the perfect destination for anyone looking for an unpretentious supper.

As promised, homey eats are the order of the day. Cheesy pizzas, comforting pasta and meaty mains form the basis of their winning menu. Classics come out in full force with capriccioso, calzones, pollo and 4 cheese pizzas wood-fired for your pleasure. Alternatively, employ your fork in a nest of spaghetti Bolognese, spaghetti marinara or fettuccine ragù. And let's not forget those gooey gnocchi and risotto dishes! If you just can't decide, you can even go half and half with pizza and pasta! How's that for a delicious solution?

For those who'd love a great cut of meat, nothing hits the spot quite like a peppercorn steak, pollo schnitzel or oozing chicken parmigiana. And with Nutella pizzas, cannoli and tiramisu on offer for pudding, we're feeling anything but grumpy!
