It's Sydney's number one British-Indian restaurant and was featured in the 2020 and 2022 Travelers Choice Awards on Tripadvisor! Welcome to The Colonial British Indian Cuisine, a restaurant that harks back to a time when decadent cuisine was a part of everyday life.

Their restaurant in Darlinghurst is the perfect setting. Restrained yet elegant, it doesn't overcrowd diners with embellishment, opting instead for an open, symmetrical space that is punctuated only by beautiful lanterns and cosy corners for anyone who prefers a cosier supper with loved ones.

When it comes to the colonial British Indian cuisine, the sky's the limit. From specialty mains to classic meat curries, biryanis and vegetarian and vegan editions, there's something for every preference and craving. First, let's take a look at the specialties which, as the name suggests, you're unlikely to find elsewhere. From hara goat to Anglo-Indian mango chicken, British fish curry and colonial mushroom curry, these are just a few unique tastes that this eatery is known for.

As for classics, expect crowd-pleasers like butter chicken, lamb biriyani, paneer tikka masala, daals and vegan tofu curry. You can even design your own! From creamy kormas to fiery vindaloos and aromatic saagwalas, customise these popular curries to suit you and maybe you'll discover something new in the process! Wipe the bowl clean with a masala, cheese or kashmiri naan and raise a glass to Anglo-Indian cuisine, the cuisine we never thought we needed.
