dinner

Perched above Scarborough Beach in the Rendezvous Hotel, Straits Cafe pairs sweeping Indian Ocean views with a confident take on modern Australian cooking. The dining experience centres on a sophisticated à la carte menu showcasing fresh, simple flavours and the best of Western Australian produce.

The kitchen favours clarity and texture: a soulful bowl of pasta e fagioli brings cannellini and borlotti beans to a tangle of mafaldine with sourdough crunch and a whisper of aged balsamic. Grilled octopus arrives over pumpkin purée with pickled red onion, nduja heat and a black cherry vincotto gloss.

For something heartier, Amelia Park lamb shoulder's richly braised until yielding, set against horseradish mash and baby carrots, while a Kidman premium wagyu beef striploin keeps things classic with herb kipfler potatoes, broccolini and a deep reduction jus.

Coastal ease runs through the experience, from bright, produce-led salads and warm focaccia to a finale of sticky date pudding with butterscotch and chai ice cream, or an artisanal cheese plate that's packed with everything from provola to shadows of blue.

Settle in by the windows or begin the evening in the lobby lounge, where the mood's polished yet unhurried. Book a table to catch the sunset, savour and stay a while - dinner's better with a view, and a sea breeze to seal the deal!
