Xenia is a Greek word for hospitality and generosity. Where the hand of friendship is extended to anyone who walks through their doors, this Gold Coast treasure is one for the books.
Their branch in Main Beach transports you directly to Greece's olive groves, its soaring craggy cliffs and its signature beachy lifestyle. Painted a pearly white and elevated with natural materials and potted olive trees, this is a taste of summer all year round. They're even tapping into Greece's nautical traditions with stunning photos of the coastline and sailor-themed booths to match. Come the evening, when the fairy lights are switched on and the open doors welcome in the hustle and bustle from outside, Xenia simply becomes alive with all the romance of the Mediterranean.
As with any Greek menu, food is made for sharing. Begin your evening with a selection of mezze including lamb and pork biftekia, stuffed vine leaves, caramelised eggplant and fried baby squid with a reviving spritz of lemon. They're not afraid of a touch of theatre too, as you will come to realise if you order the flaming saganaki!
Bigger plates showcase Greece's most beloved dishes, from the layered delight that is moussaka to buttery spanakopita, braised lamb shoulder and customisable souvlaki. If you're on a health kick, Xenia also does an impressive range of salads that incorporate the likes of feta cheese, Greek rice, quinoa, puy lentils and heaps of fresh vegetables. And once the plates are all cleared away, there's nothing left but to toast your evening with a round of ouzo. It's the Greek way!
