An oriental delight on Chevron Island, Fu Manchu has come to represent the delicious mergence of east and west, bringing forth a fusion cuisine that Gold Coast diners can't get enough of.

An authentic Asian offering that bristles with a jaunty personality, it's hard not to smile the moment you walk through Fu Mancha's doors. Their setup replicates that of informal ramen houses in Japan, where workers grab a quick bite in between or at the end of shifts. High chairs and tables allow people from all walks of life to congregate in a social setting, the bar seats also working well to bring people together. And with the noise and hustle of the exposed kitchen, Fu Manchu buzzes with action from noon to night.

The whole of Asia is at your fingertips here. You can enjoy an Indian curry, Chinese starters and Japanese bites all in the same sitting! But let's start at the beginning where fluffy bao buns are filled with bbq beef, panko fried mushroom and Korean fried chicken. Add to that some popcorn shrimp, Japanese gyoza and prawn dumplings and you have an absolute feast before you've even got to mains.

This is where the curries come in. Inspired by recipes from Malaysia, India and Thailand, you'll find barramundi, fresh vegetables and chicken in some pretty gobsmacking gravies. Other bold dishes include the theatrical crying tiger sirloin, miso sesame eggplant and a seafood laksa lasagna that is as delicious as it is innovative. Here's to new things at Fu Manchu!
