In Cairns City Centre, 8848 Momo House brings the heart of Nepalese cooking into focus, celebrating dumplings, spice and the easy pleasures of street-inspired fare. It’s a place where steaming baskets meet bold, comforting flavours, with a nod to the bustle and warmth of the streets of Kathmandu.

Momo take centre stage, from delicate steamed momo filled with veg, chicken, pork, buffalo or lamb to jhol momo, bathed in a tomato, sesame and herb sauce. There’s playful fusion too - tandoori momo and butter chicken momo offer familiar comforts reframed in dumpling form, inviting dipping, sharing and second helpings.

Beyond the baskets, chowmein delivers stir-fried noodle satisfaction, while rice and curry bowls range from veg and chicken to hearty goat. For a taste of Kathmandu’s street fare, Nepalese pork sekuwa arrives with house momo sauce and fresh salad, and buffalo sukuti brings a smoky, spiced kick. Appetites are primed with Sherpas egg drop soup, or a tangy plate of crispy potato chat with chickpeas, sweet yoghurt, mint sauce and a scatter of crunchy vermicelli.

Come hungry, bring good company and let the steam rise - this is Nepalese comfort with character. Follow the momo trail and savour every little dumpling detour!
