The Spotted Cow

For more than 130 years, The Spotted Cow has been part of Toowoomba’s hospitality story, standing proudly as one of the city’s most recognisable and much-loved local institutions.

Having recently entered an exciting chapter under new ownership, the venue has been carefully refreshed to blend its historic character with a fresh sense of energy and flair. An updated menu, elevated service and an enhanced focus on the guest experience preserve the charm, community spirit and unmistakable personality that have made “The Cow” a Toowoomba staple for generations.

On the plate, the menu sets a confident course from the sea to the grill, beginning with fresh oysters served natural or Kilpatrick, alongside share-friendly starters such as salt and pepper calamari with lemon and aioli, and creamy garlic prawns with herbs and garlic bread.

For lighter dining, options range from a classic Caesar salad to a Thai beef salad with grilled beef strips, crispy noodles, tender herbs and a zesty Asian dressing. For those seeking something heartier, comforting dishes with an Italian influence include mushroom truffle risotto with ricotta, truffle oil and parmesan, or chilli prawn spaghetti in a savoury Napoli sauce with spinach.

From the grill, quality cuts take centre stage, including eye fillet and rib fillet, served with sauces such as peppercorn or mushroom and paired with premium sides like baby broccoli with toasted almonds or crispy seasoned chips. Pub classics remain firmly part of the experience too, featuring dishes such as chicken parmigiana and grilled barramundi with truffle cauliflower puree and seasonal greens.

For a more casual meal, options span from a hearty beef burger to a steak sandwich loaded with tender steak, cheddar, lettuce, tomato and barbecue sauce. A dedicated lunch and seniors menu also features familiar staples such as chicken schnitzel and beer-battered fish and chips.
