dinner

The all-star Italian eatery that is the jewel in Surry Hills' crown, Mille Vini is back with aplomb after a dramatic revamp. With a glamorous new appearance and a selection of gourmet plates to match, Surry Hills' pride and joy is open once again.

This time around, Mille Vini has gone for a moodier look. The centrepiece has to be the marble bar that exudes exclusivity from its ice blue/charcoal exterior whilst exposed brickwork keeps things grounded and rustic. It's this gorgeous juxtaposition of old and new that gives Mille Vini a distinct edge, surprising diners with clever aesthetics and authentic touches. Venture downstairs and you'll find yourself in the wine cellar of your dreams, from which you can choose the perfect bottle to accompany your meal. An extension of the home, whilst also serenading diners with delicious hints of luxury, it's no wonder this is such a favourite with locals and visitors alike.

The kitchen is headed by Francesco Di Gioia who has composed a menu that heralds the beauty of simple food done to perfection. With a rotating selection of pasta, like the eyecatching chilli spaghetti alla Puttanesca and Pappardelle duck ragù bianco, this isn't your run-of-the-mill meal out. You'll find that time, thought and expertise have been poured into each and every dish. From veal meatballs to an exquisite octopus salad and fish crudo, this is where exclusive ingredients meet traditional cooking methods.

The wine list is another reason to visit Mille Vini. Boasting a generous selection from Italy, as well as being a dapper hand at some of Italy's sparkliest cocktails, this venue has everything and more to make your evening unforgettable. Welcome back, Mille Vini. We've missed you.
