Bar Hanami brings Asian-inspired cooking to Surry Hills, with a menu built for grazing and sharing.
Dumplings, bao, broths and crisp bites chart a course from delicate to deeply savoury, encouraging diners to mix and match plates at their own pace.
The dumpling basket leans from prawn har gow to seafood laksa xiao long bao, each parcel bright with steam and spice. A 12-hour beef bone marrow pho hums with depth, made to be savoured and enjoyed alongside vegetarian dumplings and spring rolls.
Small plates keep things lively: crispy chicken karaage with yuzu mayo and lemon, and beef bulgogi skewers glossed in sesame, finished with a kimchi garnish. From the sea comes kingfish ceviche dressed in yuzu, and gyoza stuffed with coral trout, Tasmanian scallop and banana prawn.
Sides are clean and fresh, from edamame beans dusted with sea salt or chilli garlic to an Asian slaw of cabbage, carrot and sesame dressing. Book in, gather your favourites, and let the evening bloom.
