Replicating all the activity and happy chaos of traditional Italian eateries, Osteria del Mare roots itself in the Mediterranean way of life. By this we mean that life goes with the flow, work can wait and delicious food is always at the top of the agenda. The eatery itself is beachy and breezy, encapsulating that favoured Australian aesthetic whilst also staying true to Italy with exposed brick walls, blackboards for the specials and family memorabilia that showcases the eatery's rich and varied history.

Another thing that is rich and varied is the menu. To start, freshly shucked Australian oysters, cured meats (including a stunning truffle salami) and garlic Mooloolaba prawns successfully bring together Australian produce with the Italian kitchen. The same goes for the pasta menu that features homemade tagliatelle bolognese, fettuccine carbonara and salmon ravioli.

As for the pizzas, tradition wins every time with the likes of Diavola, Regina and Gamberi bringing a whole load of rustic Italian flavours to the table. For those who prefer a white base, the Tartufo is wonderfully rich with mozzarella and truffle paste, whilst the other offering pairs of mozzarella, gorgonzola and ham for a really decadent feast. Nothing less would suffice along the Mediterranean coast!
