Mr Hizola's is the go-to for contemporary Cantonese food in Burleigh Heads.

An enchanting eatery that leans into traditional Cantonese décor, Mr Hizola's is intimate and cosy, made all the more so by a chorus of orange paper lanterns that, when lit, form a soft halo of light. And whilst that means that diners have more privacy and first dates will have no option but to fall head-over-heels for each other, it also makes way for flambéed plates to take centre stage and create a sense of awe.

Whether you'd like your dish to be flambéed or not, a wealth of options await. Start small with Kilpatrick oysters, a raw platter or the freshest sashimi that melts like butter. Alternatively, a selection of sharing plates makes for a wonderful entrée, especially when filled with zucchini pancakes, bang bang tofu and Singaporean chicken.

The big dishes go big on flavour. Presented sizzling hot with a multitude of bold sauces, the humble eggplant is transformed into a texture-tastic treat with a macadamia crumble, roasted duck is primed for duck pancakes with a drizzle of Canton sauce, and chicken has upgraded with sizzling honey and lemon for a brand new take on this everyday bird. Armed with fragrant soups, noodle mountains, stir fries and fried rice too, Mr Hizola has made the Cantonese cuisine his own.
