Mex Cartel

Leave the warm climes of the Gold Coast for the searing temperatures of Mexico. Thanks to Mex Cartel, you don't even have to step foot on a plane.

Their name will no doubt beckon you over from the opposite side of the street. Their name glows a burnt orange in the evening moonlight as hungry diners gather on the streetside patio to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining whilst inside, groups of all sizes squeeze into the cosy and colourful diner. A cacophony of textures, lights, mouthwatering smells and ringing laughter, Mex Cartel is not lacking in Mexican revelry.

The menu is every bit as colourful. The small bites tempt you with pulled pork taquitos (think of them as small tacos), chipotle grilled prawns and mountains of guacamole that is primed for a handful or three of tortilla chips. Then it's on to the proper-sized tacos which come with all kinds of fillings like porterhouse steak (so fancy!), pulled pork, chilli con carne and smoked jackfruit.

If you want a bit of everything, why not opt for a shared meal where you can descend on a mountain of loaded nachos, fajitas and a giant helping of pork belly complete with moreish pickles, preserves and chutneys. And if you lose an amigo or two over a fight for the last forkful of caramelised pork, well, that's just life!
