Located on Mona Vale Beach, The Basin Dining Room gazes out over the shoreline with the easy confidence of the Northern Beaches.

Sunlit and sea-breezy by day, it pairs laid-back charm with a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere by night. Chefs and sommeliers work hand in glove with producers, letting seasonal bounty steer the conversation on the plate and in the glass.

The cooking leans coastal and contemporary, with a light touch and a sense of occasion.

Chilled oysters perk up with finger lime and black pepper, while baked scallops arrive rich with chilli and kombu butter. There is polish in wagyu skewers glossed in master stock and a satisfying swing from casual to refined across the menu - from The Basin beef burger layered with onion jam and Swiss cheese to scallop and prawn ravioli lifted by spicy XO, confit aubergine and charred corn.

For heartier appetites, Rangers Valley scotch fillet steak with caper dressing and local leaves shows quiet confidence, as do steak frites of black market wagyu, marble score 5+. Rosemary focaccia and roast sweet potato with ricotta, pangrattato and mint keep good company before a finale of burnt Basque cheesecake with blood orange and saffron marmalade or a silky chocolate tart!

Settle in for golden hour, sip, savour and let the surf set the tempo at The Basin Dining Room.
