A dynamic and immersive Japanese izakaya experience, Bonsai by 4 Pines in Manly holds a mirror to the vibrant energy of Shinjuku's Golden Gai. Award-winning Executive Chef Joji Shikama (Tonka/ Coda) has created a Japanese menu that's serious about flavour, inspired by tradition but with locally inspired twists.

As you descend into Bonsai's deep amber glow, you'll feel like you've just stepped off the bustling streets of Tokyo. The venue has a casual, contemporary atmosphere, with reclaimed wooden beams, mural-decorated walls and tables set with taps, so the good times always flow.

Chef Shikama deftly combines pristine ingredients and traditional techniques, resulting in dishes that are a delight to share. Seafood lovers will revel in the sashimi, and tempura dishes, while selections of skewers are great for grazing and nibbling. Vegetarians will heartily approve of the innovative and delicious veggie gyoza.
