Bar Elvina

Bar Elvina brings a coastal Mediterranean spirit to Avalon Beach, a casual yet energetic wine bar and kitchen with five distinct spaces. There is a warm, intimate foyer, a terrace that keeps things cool in summer and cosy in winter, and a garden made for sun-drunk afternoons. By day it favours long, leisurely lunches; by night it shifts gear into a lively, convivial scene, with indoor and alfresco tables to suit the mood.

The menu leans into briny, bright flavours and generous sharing. Sydney Rock oysters arrive with shallot and a house rosé mignonette, while a yellowfin tuna tostada is lifted by horseradish, caper and pickled onion. From the larder, LP’s Quality Meats charcuterie and a silken chicken liver parfait with sweet and sour currants and Pedro Ximenez jelly nod to Euro cellars. Plates move from market fish with cream potatoes, broccolini and lemon-caper butter to an 8-hour lamb shoulder rubbed in za'atar, brightened by salsa verde and harissa yoghurt.

Fries with pimiento aioli and a peppery rocket salad keep pace, before desserts linger on tiramisu with pistachio, espresso and amaretto crumb, or a mousse au chocolat served tableside. The wine and cocktail programme is refined yet eclectic, encouraging discovery by the glass as the tempo shifts from afternoon ease to evening buzz.
