Tapas culture gets an Asian makeover at Street Market Asian Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Crows Nest.

The entrance to Street Market is unassuming — just a small arch and a black wooden door that’s hidden from the street by a dark grey wall. Yet inside, the venue is bursting with life. Lights are draped gaily from the ceiling. Green plants are splashed around the venue, and the sounds of laughter and music are almost as enticing as the sizzle that’s coming from the kitchen.

Yes, the chefs at Street Market are busy as they work to create tapas-style dishes with Asian street market flavours. These bespoke meals were designed by gastronomist, Alan Liang and truly celebrate a multitude of cultures — think Malay-inspired chicken curry, beef carpaccio in an Asian vinaigrette, and who could forget the sticky lamb ribs with hoisin sauce, voted best in Sydney?

It’s rare to find a mocktail menu that reads as well as its alcoholic counterpart, but Street Market’s does. In fact, you can even upgrade the enticing virgin drinks to alcoholic ones for a few extra dollars. Wine, beer and spirits are also available.
