Modern Australian food with a classic twist is right here on the Dee Why beachfront.

This award-winning local business serves up burgers, chicken dishes, pasta and (of course) fresh seafood. From grilled salmon to battered flathead, lovers of seafood and fish dishes will love Sandbar, but there’s also plenty to tempt the taste buds if fish isn’t your thing.

Light meals include a tasty steak sandwich and pulled pork sliders and there’s burgers, fish and chips and pasta for the kids.

Save room for dessert; there’s chocolate brownie and crème brûlée to enjoy as you watch the waves roll over the ocean.

The drinks menu includes espresso coffee, loose leaf teas and shakes and smoothies with amusing names and great flavours. If you’re looking for something stronger, Sandbar’s cocktail, beer and wine lists won’t disappoint.

Went out for a catch-up dinner with a couple of friends. We all had a delicious meal followed by sharing the sumptuous desserts. Service was prompt and un-intrusive. Atmosphere was great and conversation was easy without excessive noise around us. Great menu options for people with dietary restrictions as well. All round great night.

Great service & food. We had the Barramundi, seafood curry, beef burger & flathead fish n chips. The Green Smoothie just needed more whizzing to munch up the spinach since it clogged up the straw. I'd eat here again. Cheers

We have dined here many times. We did find the food has gone downhill slightly. We enjoyed the evening. The Snapps desert is to die for. We were well looked after. Thanks you.

Have eaten here previously, and had many coffee stops. Food and wait staff is very good. However, the attitude of owner/manager is appalling; instead of making you feel welcome, he just wants to tell you what you can't have or are eligible for; he may as well have had a 'go away' sticker on his forehead! We arrived early, as we were going to enjoy a couple drinks before the meal which was booked for 5.30. All DeeWhy bars offer happy hour 4-6pm, so we decided we'd have our drinks at the Sandbar first, at 4.30 and then order food etc at 5.30.
However, the manager when taking our drinks order asked whether we were eating so I let him know we had booked but at 5.30. When he realised we must be a First Table booking he promptly told me that happy hour drinks were not included - we should've just left then and walked to the bar next door and returned at 5.30!? But I said we were not booked for an hour so surely we could buy drinks as any other patron?
When I went to pay for our meal, he actually gave me the full price print out and said we had to buy full price drinks to enjoy the discount on the food!? Was he for real? Oh yes! At the end of the day there was just 2 of us- you pay $10 for the table, it doesn't save you a fortune, and indeed the attitude ruined our Sat night.
Not happy at all!! I did retaliate a little by stating I could then understand why the restaurant was practically empty compared to the others along the strip!

The food was good. Unfortunately, the service not so good. The restaurant only had a few tables with people and it took over 40min for our main meal to be serviced. I asked for ice (for my wine) twice, and i never received it.

Off to Sandbar my family went
For what was a special birthday event,
My son was turning eighteen years
He sat down and ordered his first manly beers!
The mains were generous and totally yum,
The desserts were divine, we devoured every crumb!
They gave us a jug of delicious cocktails
That's when my boy began his tall tales!
We spied a cruise ship while admiring the view
As the candlelit tables gave a nice hue.
Whilst our budget didn't stretch to a cool sports car,
Our son was grateful for a meal at Sandbar.

Our group of 4 ate everything on our plates. Delicious. Highly recommend the grilled chicken and haloumi salad. Unfortunately we had a rainy and windy night and 2 of us were getting a bit wet at the table but we just shuffled along a little and all was well. Lovely evening.

Lovely meal at Sandbar as usual- Malay Seafood Curry is just delicious, and 9 year old asked if we could come there every night for dinner, so the kids meal ticked all the boxes!

Great venue with beautiful view. The service was good and the staff were friendly. The starter (burschetta) arrived quickly and was delicious. The mains took a while to arrive, but it was a beautiful spot to sit and chat. We all enjoyed our mains, fish and chips and prawn linguine, although there could have been more prawns in the linguine. Drinks we ordered included cocktails, wine and beer and all were good. A very relaxing evening, good food and great view, definitely recommended.

This is our second time at Sandbar. Some of the menu items had changed which was really nice. The goat cheese and beetroot entree was delightful and the dessert was amazing.
A definite return visit is in order.
Thank you to the lovely attentive staff.
