The epitome of classic, The Wine Room Bar hits all the right notes with its restrained demeanour. Dark furnishings prevail in the forms of glossy leather booths, plush dining chairs and gleaming tables made all the richer and more seductive with the grand oak-coloured bar, dark walls and contemporary lanterns. In contrast, the glass wall that overlooks the surroundings illuminates the venue, creating a delicious juxtaposition between light and dark, intimate and spacious.

The kitchen is headed by Chef David Chhetri. To begin, tickle the taste buds with some shared plates that take inspiration from all over the world. Asia features heavily here with char sui pork dumplings, tempura quail and sizzling chicken rubbed in moreish Korean spices. Alternatively, head to Europe for the most decadent smoked beef tartare, crispy mushroom arancini and stuffed zucchini flowers.

If you don't decide to make these sharing plates the main event, move on to their bigger plates. Here, premium cuts of meat get their moment in the spotlight with tender sirloin, blushing pink duck breast and a perfectly poached salmon. Alternatively, hit a lighter note with Murray cod alongside refreshing fennel or crab fritters with some daikon slaw. And whatever you do, do leave room for a chocolate tart or vanilla bean brulee; they're quite simply out of this world.
