Burgers and beers and bar snacks—oh my! This winning combination is mastered at Ze Pickle, a popular dinner spot in Sydney’s Surry Hills.

Like all good burger joints, this is a casual venue where you’ll feel right at home. Exposed brick walls create a comfortable yet fun aesthetic—the perfect backdrop for your meal.

Ze Pickle is all about creating the best burgers possible. Think delicious, fresh and colourful ingredients piled high, framed with buns and oozing with cheese. And, if you still have room for more, you can extend your Ze Pickle experience by indulging in their range of tasty bar snacks. Cheeseburger spring rolls, anyone?

The twelve taps standing sentinel at the bar rotate through a selection of the best local and international breweries; there really is a beer to suit every taste here. Or, for those looking for something different, try a frozen bubblegum margarita or a smoked bacon ol’ fashioned.

Service is exceptional at Ze Pickle, with one reviewer mentioning he has never experienced a more knowledgeable waiter—so expect to be well looked after as you feast. With children welcome and a kid’s menu provided, there really is no reason not to stop and try some of the best fare of this kind in town.

Ze Pickle is definitely worth a try! My partner and I were graciously welcomed as soon as we entered the premises and were given free range where to sit (I know there weren't many other patrons there already but it was super nice to be able to choose a window seat on a hot day!). We were given ample time to go over the menu and choose what we wanted and the waiter was very attentive to our order.

We were given our cocktails relatively quickly. The bubblegum lemonade with vodka was a unique, sweet hit which my partner enjoyed and I sampled. The Frozen Janice was super refreshing with a fruity burst to leave one feeling nice and cool, which I enjoyed and my partner sampled.

As for the food I got the Mash Mash City Bish burger and my partner got the Southern Hick burger. These were brought out to us after a fair wait, but it was well worth it. The Mash Mash City Bish burger is a great choice for potato lovers (like myself, haha). The southern fried chicken may not be the juciest I've had on a burger but the buttery, fluffy mash and maple gravy more than made up for it, adding plenty of flavour and texture.

But the dessert was the REAL hero of the night. The #whothefuckwasmaxbrener was an entire experience in itself. It was perfectly skilleted and the flavours and textures of the cookie dough, MnMs, marshmallow and ice cream was perfect (and I almost never rate anything as perfect!).

Overall the atmosphere of the restaurant was ambient and quiet enough for my partner and I to enjoy our food and each other's company and soak everything in. The waiter who served us was very friendly throughout our experience and was helpful at hinting out the dessert we picked was going to be more than satisfying (they were also the only staff member present on the floor at the time; what a trooper!). They even went so far as to apologise for the lack of advancement in their eftpos machine technology, something I can sympathise with wholeheartedly, working in customer service myself.

I understand Ze Pickle might not be for everyone (it's probably not ideal if you're sticking to a healthy diet), but I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a dining experience with inventive and diverse options that take burgers to a whole new level of crazy creativity.

Completely empty when we arrived. We had the Mac and cheese + brisket burgers, there was no Mac and cheese just boiled macaroni, then got told at the end it was cash only so we had to go to the bank and come back to pay.... disappointing experience
