Bringing all the wine-infused, cheesy and all-round sumptuous cuisine of Southern France to Surrey Hills, LoLuk celebrates Grandma's kitchen with beauty and grace.
The passion project of brothers Luc and Loic, this eatery is traditionally French through and through. It might be located in Sydney, but LoLuk's rustic bistro charm transports you to the quirkiness of a French family kitchen. Its cosy, whitewashed aesthetic with plenty of vintage furnishings, intimate corners and European patio take you far away from Sydney's tropical shores and into the warm embrace of Grandma's house, with the promise of an excellent, homecooked meal.
Life in Southern France is not rushed. Residents enjoy long lunches overlooking the French Riviera whilst nursing a glass of the good stuff. So, with that in mind, indulge in their delicious range of entrees, including an onion niçoise tart, snails anointed with a parsley and garlic butter and a delectable pork terrine with tangy pickles and garlic toast.
The mains stick to a winning formula of perfectly marinated and cooked meats with a range of vegetables and free-flowing jus', gravies and veloutés. Think along the lines of pink duck breast served with handmade gnocchi, a slow cooked lamb shoulder with roasted turnip and thyme jus and a beef cheek daube with creamy polenta and parmesan chips. Add on some traditional ratatouille and smashed potatoes or take the sensible option and save room for some profiteroles or an apple tarte Tatin. Southern France is always up for interpretation.
