Asian-themed pasta? Sounds like our idea of a match made in culinary heaven.

Bar Pesta is a vibrant hub. Fresh green walls are made to feel light and breezy thanks to the white table-tops and well-lit back bar. Greenery drapes from the ceiling, interspersed with filament light globes for a warm glow inside the dining space.

This venue was formed when the Xage restaurant team were looking for a new and exciting style of cooking to shake up the local food scene. Bar Pesta was created, with the name derived from the Genoese word “pesta”, meaning to crush or to pound, as one would with a mortar and pestle—an item that feels just as at home in an Asian kitchen as it does in an Italian one.

This fusion method of cooking combines spaghettis, pennes and pastas with some of the heroes of Asian cuisine. Think dishes like the miso carbonara chicken, or the XO seafood penne—meals so delicious they only leave us thinking why hasn’t somebody done this before?

Of course, for the less adventurous diners, there are both classic pasta and traditional Asian dishes, including some Xage favourites, ensuring there’s something to please everybody.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect from Italian with Asian fusion but was very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, and very generous portions. Restaurant was nice and had a very chilled vibe. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

From the first bite of the shared Seafod Spring Rolls Entree we were hooked.
Seated at a pavement table at a restaurant that opens up to the street we felt as if we were engaging in an Asian/Italian fusion experience.
Service was 'gentle' and unhurried. Were it a pre theatre restaurant they would need to speed the level of service up. For a casual meal in a relaxed setting it worked for us. Fortunately we both have a broad palate that can accommodate flavours and textures that are not your typical dining experience. Make sure that your meal companion has an adventurous palate that can accommodate the hint of chilli added to the dishes. To capture the Asian/Italian taste sensations the Asian Pastas would be my go to dishes.
Looking for a small street side restaurant that's big on flavours and is budget friendly....then .this is it
