We had an incredibly enjoyable meal at Macleay Street Bistro. A really sweet restaurant that has a lovely atmosphere. In particular we really enjoyed the crepe suzette flambéed at the table and the snails were absolutely delicious. We also had a glass of Malbec each which was excellent. Service was a bit wooden at first but seemed to get better as the evening went on. I would be happy to go back to this restaurant and pay full price, but obviously the discount made this absolutely fantastic value.

Absolutely great venue with amazing food and service. Liz (hope I'm spelling it right) was great from the beginning to the end. Best mussels I've ever had, steak tartare unique and very tasty. The venue itself is quite small, but that adds to the ambience. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended for french food.

This was both my first experience with First Table and Macleay Street Bistro and I am telling everyone who’ll listen about both!! The First Table concept is brilliant. Access to a superb restaurant at half the price of food?! No different menu or experience! My friends have now made me responsible for all future arrangements, we had such a great night!! I am now a devoted customer! Thank you, First Table and Macleay Street Bistro. PS The onion soufflé and flambé crepes Suzette...SUBLIME!!!

From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Clive, the whole experience was amazing. From the chats about wine, to the absolutely exquisite food, and general warmth from the staff.
I went classic French with the french onion soup and steak tartare. The tartare is put together for you at the table and is an experience in itself.
This is the perfect place to go if you're looking for something special.

Absolutely kicking ourselves for not going here earlier! We have been locals for almost 3 years and have always walked past and said 'we should go there sometime' - with First Table it helped us finally give it a go, and we loved it!!! We had the Oysters, Salmon Tartare, Beef Tartare & the Mussels. Not a single bad thing to say about the joint, absolutely everything was on point and we can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Some of the great plates included french onion souffle, delicious pate, Duck breast cooked to perfection and crepes Suzette and dreamy creame brulee! It was a fantastic evening. For a first time experience at The Macleay St. Bistro, we were welcomed like long time customers and by the end of our night, made feel like long time friends.
A cocktail each to start the night is a must-do with the aroma of lemon from the French 75 being an indication that this was going to be an evening to remember. The French Martini was just as appealing with it's "just right" blend of Chambord, Vodka & Pineapple juice.
Entrees of The Chicken Liver Parfait (as light as one would think a cloud in heaven) & Steak Tartare (prepared table-side) were accompanied with just the right amount of mini-baguette toast and the fig paste and red onion confit complimenting the Parfait were to die for (justifying that cloud in heaven).
The recommended bottle of Turckheim Pinot Blanc from Alsace went perfectly with these, served blissfully chilled in fine rimmed glassware.
Our mains were The Eye Fillet with Fresh Parsley & Sauce Au Poivre , cooked perfectly medium-rare and The Lamb Loin with Heirloom Carrots, Pomme Mousseline & Carrot Puré with sides ordered of Honey Glazed Carrot with Toasted Almonds and French Fries (both were excess to what we really needed as the mains were of large proportion, however, delicious!)
A glass each of the Vincent Girardin, Chardonnay from Burgundy was perfect with these.
With no room left for desert we were presented with a homemade chocolate truffle each to finish off the night to perfection.
Thank you so much to Stefano and all the staff who made it such a special night that we have already raved to friends and family about. We look forward to continuing our new found friendship.

Service was prompt and professional but still very personable.
Food was spectacular and generous. The red wine that was recommended was the most exquisite we have tasted in years.
Overall a fantastic evening and couldn’t have been happier with the evening - would definitely recommend. The place was absolutely packed and not a spare seat in sight, so obviously it’s gotten a great reputation in the area because of its amazing food, ambiance and service.

Small place, cozy but nice atmosphere, popular place so it seemed full of patrons the whole night (not a spare table), probably best to make reservations. Food was excellent, nothing bad to say about the food. French cuisine and the menu was all about celebrating everything French (the real McCoy). A SC charge appeared on the bill, assumed it was for gratuities since we did not drink alcohol so it was not corkage, that could have been a bit more spelt out on the docket. Tentative staff to wait on you, so service was very good
