Enjoy good honest food, generous portions and sustainably sourced produce at Kitchen by Mike, located at 1-7 Bent Street in the Sydney CBD.

This restaurant is the brainchild of Chef Mike McEnearney. Once at home in Rosebery, this venue is now enjoying its central city location, for dinner the lights are dimmed and table service offered providing a much-needed casual yet delicious after-work dining option.

The Kitchen by Mike dinner menu changes regularly to reflect the seasonal produce available. Local food is also sourced to fit with the sustainable ethos. The menu is designed to be shared, with a range of vegetarian, seafood and meat options. It’s modern and produce-forward, letting the food itself be the hero. Larger items and sides are also on offer via the blackboard.

For those with a sweet tooth, a dessert menu is available.

Cocktails are made featuring produce featuring all Australian distillers, brewers and wine-makers. An extensive wine and beer list are also on hand to further complement your meal.

Amazing experience. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. Julia provided excellent service and I would love to eat there more often.
I loved the vegetarian options and the variety of flavours in each dish.

We went early on a Friday evening. The staff were very welcoming and, in fact, very professional and attentive, throughout, our time there.

We chose 5 dishes as well as the chunks of beautiful sour dough. The stand out dish was a double cooked goats cheese souffle with an incredible rosemary sauce. Absolutely fantastic. We also tried the calamari (a bit small), a very nice green salad and tasty stuffed eggplant.

We went for the flank beef cut as a shared "main". This looked sensational, was cooked to perfection, but was not great quality meat for $43 main (full price). Probably would go for the lamb next time.

The wine was reasonably priced and they served a great G&T. We had to be out by 7pm but there was no pressure to leave. All wine and food was Australian produced. Overall a great experience.

This food is SPECIAL!! Every morsel we ate was a delight. Flavours are clean and exciting and far from pretentious. The staff are well informed on the food and it shows that Chef Mike likes to share his passion for the food with his team. The bread, butter, chicken liver pate, broccolini with macadamia purée and rice in pastry we’re all exceptionally delicious and I could do it again and again. The vibe in the restaurant was good. Every year, we have a girls' night out to see the latest Australian Ballet production at the Opera House. This year, it was The Nutcracker. We decided to give the over-priced and over-rated Opera Bar a miss (as we tend to lose half our food to the seagulls and the last time had a drink spilled in my friend's handbag) and try out Kitchen by Mike on Bent Street. It did not disappoint. As a former patron of their Rosebery restaurant, I was pleased to order the familiar bread and generous Pepe Saya butter and also try out new offerings like the goat's cheese souffle (sublime), lamb, snapper, and Morrocan pie, which were all shared amongst four of us. With the First Table deal, we walked away paying only $35 per head for food and two drinks each, and a pledge to return each year. It is only 15 minutes walk to the Opera House and this year offered a Wilson car park deal for $10 evening rate. What more could you ask for? Great food, great service, and great location. A thousand times better than going to the Opera Bar for a pre-theatre meal/drinks.

The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. There was such an interesting variety of food and each dish held it's own. We ate far too much and we would have forced ourselves to have the dessert except we were going to a performance at the Opera House at 7:30 and had to run out of there at 7:15.
The standouts were the fresh stracciatella salad, the snapper and mussel dish, and the lamb dish (I don't like lamb personally but the ratatouille under the lamb was sensational). And their sourdough bread is a must.
We'll definitely be back.

We were keen to try out the new Kitchen by Mike and it certainly did not disappoint! We shared 6 dishes between 3 people. Highlights were the pate, decadently indulgent and delicious, scallops, ceviche and the snapper! We also ordered the quail which tasted lovely and looked very much in the theme of the city bedlam outside (Halloween!). Excellent service. We will return!

Although there was a large party of people there, the service was friendly and efficient. When we said that we had to get to a concert, they served us in time for us to reach the concert on time. We had several tapas dishes which were delicious and the owner took time out to explain how each was created. Will definitely go back!

Lovely dinner experience! went here with a friend on a Tuesday night, the staff were very friendly and had great knowledge of the food. Good level of attention not pushy. We ordered 6 of the small plates plus one side, we probably could have done with 5 and no side as they were pretty filling dishes! Food came out at a good pace, not all together and rushed like some places. The food was beautiful my only critique, and it is totally down to taste, was that the beef tarte was a little salty. The eggplant sandwich, pumpkin, pate, quail pie and scallops were all amazing!!!!!!! I would most definitely come back.

I have been a fan of Kitchen by Mike and Mike’s Grill venues for a while. The CBD restaurant did not disappoint! The food and flavors were of the perfect quality and blend, our dishes were absolutely delightful. The service was good although a little slow as they were starting out for the night, I suppose. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and wines and I will be back again!

I’ve previously dined here 3 times, on my 4th time me and my girlfriends went out almost crying. The service by one of the waiters was just horrible. He was pulled the menu out of my hands when I asked for more time. He commented that we ordered 4 dishes and need to order more. I told him to give me some time to decide, thats when he pulled the menu our of my hands. I told him ill be ordering some desserts as well, he replied -well there is only 4 desserts cant you make your mind now??? He also pulled out stuff out of baby’s hands and told the mother oh this must be your first. What??
Horrible service!!!! Dont know if the manager did anything about it but she offered another table and another server but the evening was ruined. I will be leaving reviews everywhere I can. Never experienced such poor service!!!!

My husband and I had a great dining experience at Kitchen by Mike. We had 6 of the share dishes and they were all delicious. We particularly loved the rice in puff pastry, the pastry was a nice surprise and who doesn't love carbs on carbs!! The calamari was also to die for, it was cooked perfectly and the squid ink sauce was amazing. We had great and efficient service and will definitely be back.
