The oysters were definitely our pick for entree, not usually a fan but they were tasty, ended up drinking all the sauce from it.

The wagyu hangar was evenly cooked with a nice pink colour throughout, and the brisket had a layer of fat that melted in your mouth. Definitely my picks for the mains.

For the dessert, the presentation of the fire and ice is worth the price alone, and the assortment of small desserts makes for a great way to finish off.

The photos don't justify the experience. Such knowledgeable and pleasant staff happy to explain the menu and its items.

The dishes were very tasty and well constructed - best brownie I've ever tasted thank you.

We enjoyed the atmosphere created with the candle lit tables, the dim warm lights, the 1950's music playing and the preserved interior of an industrial age factory.

Trying to find this hidden, upstairs restaurant took a few minutes of wandering around / Google maps as there were no obvious signs.

From the moment we stepped inside the restaurant the ambiance was nothing short of amazing. Candle lit tables, full view of the kitchen, perfect table service and the waiters were friendly and had a abundance of knowledge. The entree’s were fresh and nothing short of spectacular. The scotch fillet for the main meal was distinct. They kindly cut up the steak for you which makes it more appealing and easy to share. The dessert was amazing and full of flavour. Definitely recommend anyone to give this place a go as it is well worth the money spent. Will be back within a few days to feast again as this place is simply to good!

We went for my dad’s birthday and he said it was the best steak he’d ever had in his 52 years! The ‘fire and ice’ dessert was beautiful- they wrote Happy Birthday on the platter in chocolate as per my request and brought it out as a surprise for my dad. The service was excellent, they were experienced with First Table dining and there wasn’t an issue with the bill. We had substantial food for 4 people with wine, and the total bill was under $200, would highly recommend!

Eastside is definitely $$ BUT you get what you pay for. There were 3 people in our group and the general consensus was very good. We were all pleased with the food, especially the Wagyu Brisket. The meats were cooked to perfection; one can taste the flavours without the need for a sauce. Plus, the customer service was excellent!

What another wonderful find in Sydney.
We were warmly welcomed by the staff and made to feel like such valued guests.
Jerome was our waiter and was faultless in his attention to us. He is an asset to the restaurant.
All of the wait staff were attentive and courteous.
The food was delicious. I had the beef ribs and they were melt in your mouth tender.
The fire and ice dessert selection is not to be missed.
There was no sense of being rushed. We had such a relaxed enjoyable evening in this lovely space.

I have been other hatted restaurants for wayu steak. East side definitely has the best Wayu steak, we loved it with mushroom sauce as well.

Absolutely delicious food! We had the oysters, prawn tartare, calamari, and brisket and everything was amazing. Lovely spot and super friendly service as well.

We had an excellent time here. We were greeted warmly by the staff upon entry. We ordered the oysters as starters and the Beef Tartare and Kingfish Sashimi as entrees. The beef tartare was one of the best I’ve had. Next we both ordered the Wagyu Sirlion and it tasted exactly like what you’d expect of a wagyu steak. Overall, a really good dining experience here and the food was excellent. The ambience is also really nice and the table is candle-lit so it’s an excellent date idea ;).

Exceptional Restaurant, we had the tasting menu, it was very generous portions. The Prawn Tartare was very tasty. The Ice and Fire dessert is a show stopper. Will be dining here again.

From the moment that my friends and I entered the restaurant we were greeted by our host who took us to our table and explained to us the history of the restaurant and the menu.

The ambience, warmth and history certainly did provide a great setting for dinner.

The food was absolutely amazing and you could not find a better steak anywhere in Australia and was more reminiscent of something that you would experience in Argentina.

The price was fair considering the portion size and sides that accompany the main meal. The beef tartare as a starter is a must. My friends and I will be back in the near future to try the gnocchi..

Keep up the great work!

The dry-aged 5MB steak was the best steak we’ve ever had! It’s all I’ve thought about since tbh

Head up the stairs of The Old Rum Store to discover the flame grilled flavours of Eastside Kitchen and Bar. The staff are genuine and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step inside. The ambience is cosy and dark, lit by the mood lighting and flickering of candles, channelling the vibe of a trendy new York bar.
The food is clever, fresh and presented with finesse, without being pretentious.
Best option: Go with the Chefs menu, it offers a bit of everything to try and is great value for money.

Wow-wee! Why didn't I know about this restaurant until now? We were treated like rock stars from the moment we arrived. The food was sublime and the wait staff were both discrete and attentive. A great location with a real vibe on a Friday night. Loved it all!

You walk into this place confronted by an amazing bar with a very friendly and approachable waiter. We had Bombay Sapphire and Tonic and Vodka and Soda to begin with. This was followed by chicken karage which was so tasty, ggy’s sourdough bread
apple balsamic & olive oil and angus beef tartare
pickled beets, rice crisps which delicious.
Mains were ranger’s valley angus striploin steak (250g)
roasted potatoes, baby peppers heavenly and spaghetti pumpkin mentaiko pasta
salmon roe cooked to perfection. We also had some greens on the side

For dessert we had dessert presentation ‘fire + ice’ which was to die for.

Took a friend here for a birthday dinner. Food and atmosphere was lovely. The service was great, other than only one entree was brought out and then there was a 20 minute wait until the second one arrived, with no explanation given. Thankfully the first one was a cold dish, so still tasted delicious.

I had a beautifully cooked rump steak for my main, and maybe I missed it on the menu, but wasn't informed that it didn't come with anything other than the steak. We had ordered sides so that was fine, but if not noted on the menu, it might have been a good idea for the server to mention this and it's always good to up-sell!

Overall it was a lovely meal and would absolutely go back there again.

Great venue all-round. Waiters were friendly, informative and attentive. Even the chef came out and spoke to us as the waiter was explaining the menu and specials. The Chef was passionate about his ingredients and recipes and the dishes we ordered testified to his love of cooking. Our shared starter of kingfish sashimi was fresh and light. Our shared main, 1.1kg medium rare aged Angus O/P rib with red wine jus was mouth-wateringly tender and one of the best stakes I have enjoyed. Congratulations to the entire team!

Good atmosphere and friendly stuff and delicious food!! Steak was perfectly cooked and side dishes were amazing too. We were seated next to the open kitchen so we were able to see what chefs were doing and it was fun to watch, was kind of entertaiment like a food show.

Dry aged op fillet has a flavour that you will not regret spending on. Normally in 1.2kg cuts perfect for 4 people. If just two people would recommend no entree’s if you intend of finishing with sides.

A little bit disappointed tbh. Eastside gets great reviews and promotes itself well. Maybe that's the problem, we expected too much. The home-made Gnocchi in tomato sauce was terrific but the Scotch fillet and Hanger steak were a little under-whelming taste-wise though cooked to perfection. Just didn't seem to have any seasoning or smokiness from the purpose-built built grill. Maybe it was just too early in the day...Very good and informative service.

We had a great time! eastside bar and grill is dinner-worthy from entree to dessert and the staff accommodating and friendly. Their steak stood out, its definitely one of bests (if not the best) in town. We have had this conversation after, that if one of our friend can marry a steak, its the steak at eastside

First time trying, it was OK but certainly didn't wow me. Brisket was very fatty, my wifes salmon she thought was OK. Nice atmosphere.
Really annoying (on principal) to be charged well over $100 but then be stung a debit card fee to pay the bill!! Honestly, in this day and age!!
I can go to Woolies and buy a $2 water and its free to transact yet this restaurant thinks this OK.
Based on this alone I wouldn't go back when there's plenty of others that respect the fact I've already paid a reasonable amount for their dinner/service without hitting you up with this at the end.

Had a great experience in the restaurant! All the food was amazing, highly reccomend the rib eye to share. A little disappointed with the fire and ice dessert, despite an amazing presentation the creme brulee tasted like gas from the torch and having two panna cottas seemed unnecessary (should have substituted one for the cheesecake that they brought with the bill!). Great experience overall with fantastic service from Lea, we will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I tried this restaurant after getting a deal on first table.

We arrived early which was no issue and honestly I cannot fault anything. There was nice soft music playing in the background and the service and food was 10/10.

Our waitress was so lovely and so informative in regards to the whole menu and the specials that night.

We had the wagyu sirloin and already can’t wait to go back!

A great experience, atmosphere, food and service.
