This restaurant is headed up by internationally acclaimed chef Stanley Wong, and the menu reflects not only his talent but his passion for locally sourced food and his interest in sustainable seafood and meats. Combined with modern cooking techniques, this results in a range of dishes that are not only socially responsible but also incredibly delicious.

Start with a selection from the raw portion of the menu, such as the citrus-cured alpine king trout or the grilled Angus beef tartare. Follow that up with a hot selection of modern food, such as the harissa-braised free-range lamb shank or the miso-glazed black cod fillet.

We had an excellent time here. We were greeted warmly by the staff upon entry. We ordered the oysters as starters and the Beef Tartare and Kingfish Sashimi as entrees. The beef tartare was one of the best I’ve had. Next we both ordered the Wagyu Sirlion and it tasted exactly like what you’d expect of a wagyu steak. Overall, a really good dining experience here and the food was excellent. The ambience is also really nice and the table is candle-lit so it’s an excellent date idea ;).

From the moment that my friends and I entered the restaurant we were greeted by our host who took us to our table and explained to us the history of the restaurant and the menu.

The ambience, warmth and history certainly did provide a great setting for dinner.

The food was absolutely amazing and you could not find a better steak anywhere in Australia and was more reminiscent of something that you would experience in Argentina.

The price was fair considering the portion size and sides that accompany the main meal. The beef tartare as a starter is a must. My friends and I will be back in the near future to try the gnocchi..

Head up the stairs of The Old Rum Store to discover the flame grilled flavours of Eastside Kitchen and Bar. The staff are genuine and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step inside. The ambience is cosy and dark, lit by the mood lighting and flickering of candles, channelling the vibe of a trendy new York bar.
The food is clever, fresh and presented with finesse, without being pretentious.
Best option: Go with the Chefs menu, it offers a bit of everything to try and is great value for money.

Wow-wee! Why didn't I know about this restaurant until now? We were treated like rock stars from the moment we arrived. The food was sublime and the wait staff were both discrete and attentive. A great location with a real vibe on a Friday night. Loved it all!

You walk into this place confronted by an amazing bar with a very friendly and approachable waiter. We had Bombay Sapphire and Tonic and Vodka and Soda to begin with. This was followed by chicken karage which was so tasty, ggy’s sourdough bread
apple balsamic & olive oil and angus beef tartare
pickled beets, rice crisps which delicious.
Mains were ranger’s valley angus striploin steak (250g)
roasted potatoes, baby peppers heavenly and spaghetti pumpkin mentaiko pasta
salmon roe cooked to perfection. We also had some greens on the side

For dessert we had dessert presentation ‘fire + ice’ which was to die for.

First time trying, it was OK but certainly didn't wow me. Brisket was very fatty, my wifes salmon she thought was OK. Nice atmosphere.
Really annoying (on principal) to be charged well over $100 but then be stung a debit card fee to pay the bill!! Honestly, in this day and age!!
I can go to Woolies and buy a $2 water and its free to transact yet this restaurant thinks this OK.
Based on this alone I wouldn't go back when there's plenty of others that respect the fact I've already paid a reasonable amount for their dinner/service without hitting you up with this at the end.

Had a great experience in the restaurant! All the food was amazing, highly reccomend the rib eye to share. A little disappointed with the fire and ice dessert, despite an amazing presentation the creme brulee tasted like gas from the torch and having two panna cottas seemed unnecessary (should have substituted one for the cheesecake that they brought with the bill!). Great experience overall with fantastic service from Lea, we will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I tried this restaurant after getting a deal on first table.

We arrived early which was no issue and honestly I cannot fault anything. There was nice soft music playing in the background and the service and food was 10/10.

Our waitress was so lovely and so informative in regards to the whole menu and the specials that night.

We had the wagyu sirloin and already can’t wait to go back!

There are not too many restaurants that have exceeded my expectations so this was certainly a welcome surprise. Our waitress was extremely helpful with the menu and chefs recommendations and which assisted in my choice of main and I definitely wasn’t let down. The Fire and Ice desert specialty certainly wowed not just the kids and was beautifully presented and tasted just as delicious. Will certainly be back and would highly recommend to those looking for that little extra in service and food quality that this restaurant represents. Thank you for the great night.

To fellow steak enthusiasts: please get the aged steak that they recommend, one of the best I've bad in Sydney, cannot recommend it enough.

First time at eastside bar and grill. Me and my friend decided to go as a recommendation. \ Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed not only the food but the experience. Your waiter explains the menu and a make recommendations, learn something valuable about beef marbling and also seen a whole real truffle. Great ambience, as its only a mid size and intimate resto. Not too big and not too small and plus is not too noisy! Really cool candlelight dinner, great for dates and special occasion.

Service and meat were perfect. I would recommend the restaurant because of that. However, their wine alternatives though were poor and expensive. Food portions were too small on my opinion.
If you are a meat lover and you don't mind about the size of your meal ...go for it!
