Danté brings a contemporary gloss to the pleasures of Greek cooking in the heart of Northcote. It is the kind of place where the first hello feels warm, the last sip lingers, and everything in between is guided by care. The kitchen nods to tradition while embracing modern flourish, shaping bold, sunshine-bright flavours with an elegant hand.

Mezze sets the tone: Pacific Oysters brightened with mignonette, chilli and mint crisps, jalapeño and lemon, and Grilled Calamari lifted by pickled zucchini. Larger plates lean into comfort and craft, from Eggplant Moussaka layered with beef bolognese and béchamel to Slow-cooked Lamb Shank enriched with red wine sauce, Greek yogurt and ancient grains. Pita Flatbread arrives fragrant with olive oil and herbs, while Double Cooked Potatoes and a Beetroot, Fetta, Chickpea Crema keep things refreshingly grounded.

Sweet moments are classic yet playful: flaky Baklava with cinnamon ice cream or a bracing Affogato kissed with Frangelico liqueur. As a restaurant and cocktail bar, Danté balances refinement and revelry; a Bailey's Espresso Martini or the smoky, gingery Honey Ginger on Fire neatly bookend an evening.

The atmosphere is lively and caring, with attentive service and the occasional chance to meet one of the owners. Whether it is Christmas lunch, a leisurely high tea, or a spirited bottomless brunch, Danté is set for every occasion. Make a date, follow the flavours, and let Northcote’s Greek muse do the talking.
