Steaming bowls of hot, fragrant and flavoursome ramen, made with love on-site, are what Shizuku Ramen, on Victoria Street, is famous for. And why wouldn’t they be? Heaven for noodle enthusiasts across Melbourne, Shizuku Ramen is serious when it comes to producing top-quality ramen, a labour-intensive labour of love that is done to perfection. As ramen’s popularity grows in the city, Shizuku has become the go-to for devotees of the dish, standing tall above the competition (a big claim to make but absolutely true, honestly).

Breaking down those steaming bowls for you look out for the takoyaki mentai (apparently, the best in the city) – octopus, ume plum sauce, seaweed powder, spicy cod roe mayo, bonito flakes and spring onions – and a truffle-laden tofu salad. When it comes to mouth-watering mains, you will simply have to go for some beautifully intense truffle paitan ramen. Big on broth and succulent chicken, it is glacé onto sticky ice cream for pud, if you still have room though, you are splurging on ramen and the service was good so why spoil the ship for a ha’porth of dessert?
