Reviews

This continues to be our favorite restaurant on the Gold Coast as the staff and management have the combination of customer service and great food just perfect. This was a birthday celebration and the staff went out of their way to make it a special occasion.

We had a memorable evening with delicious food and very attentive service. We ordered lots of share dishes starting with spicy edamame and taro chips before moving onto fresh sashimi platters and multiple hot dishes. Everything was tasty but the stars of the night were the tempura scallop and popcorn prawn. Our desserts were equally good. The poor chef dropped our fondant and had to prepare another one, he apologised and gave us 2 on the house! Definitely be back for more.
Thank you!

Probably the best meal we have ever had on the GC. And the service was personal and charming
Project Tokyo was faultless

This is our second time dining at Project Tokyo and the food was just as fantastic (possibly even better!) than the last time. Service is attentive and the staff are happy to assist with ordering ideas or help with how to space out all the different dishes. It is a really lovely Japanese restaurant and will be a local for us.

This was one of my best eating out experiences at the Gold Coast since 2012. I have tried First Table a few times now, always good! However, this modern Japanese Restaurant was awsome and superb! Very friendly chef We had a chat with, he had time for early birds. Very friendly staff and just great food. We left the choice to the chef, which we tend to do when trying a new place. Great Japanese beer and amazing course, finger food as starters and slowly into the best food you can imagine, fish and meat of the highest quality and vegies fresh with roasted sesame. Well chosen background music, not noisy, a great experience and we will most certainly come back.

What a gem! We have just left the most amazing little restaurant after having the best Japanese meal I've ever eaten. Seriously awesome cuisine, super attentive hosts and really gorgeous atmosphere. Get onto this special special place before it's completely discovered and totally packed out.

We've only recently discovered firsttable.com.au and totally love it. What a great find! The quality of restaurants has been exceptional and I really like that there's a good selection of cuisines.

Thank you so very much Frank - we will be back!

This is a magnificent little Restaurant providing Japanese food with a unique twist. The value for money by dining through First Table can not be beaten. The experience staff with provide great advice if you are not sure as to what to order. We had a set menu and we loved this style of eating.

First time here and it was fantastic- as good as all the Reviews we had read. Every dish was sensational and beautifully presented but our favourites were probably the tuna sashimi and the gyoza - but everything we tried was delicious. Also a great and unusual cocktail list worth trying. It was very popular the Monday night we were there with a great atmosphere and the excellent service matched the food. We would definitely come back next time we’re on the Gold Coast. One of the best places we went to on our holiday.

Fantastic dining experience. The location is quite unassuming but the food does the talking. We had the $55 tasting menu which included popcorn prawns, kingfish sashimi, beef skewers, lotus roots, sushi, nigiri and more. We loved every course and the waiting staff offered explanations of the dishes as they came. The service was friendly, sincere and efficient. A must visit

A most enjoyable meal!
We had our 6 yr old granddaughter who loved everything we ordered!!The sashimi, beef tataki and she ordered 2servings of the chicken wings! They were to die for!
We will come again!

- dined at Project Tokyo on

What a wonderful dining experience. We had the 8 course at meal @ $70 per person. Every course was delicious. The chef went to great lengths to prepare visually delightful culinary creations, which were also exquisite on the palate.
The wait staff were keen to please and discretely attentive.
We will definitely revisit this gem in an understated local shopping centre.

Wow! we were very pleasantly surprised at the high-quality Japanese fine dining experience at our local restaurant strip in Mermaid Waters. There were 4 of us so decided on the mid-range set menu "Omakase Puremiamu". We also had a few dietary requirements which were well received and catered for. This gave us the opportunity to sample a good selection of the menu items which were perfectly presented, very tasty, overall quite generous and the owner was very attentive in explaining all of the dishes as they were served. The beverage & wine list was reasonably priced and the margaritas were excellent. Also BYO optional.
We are very excited to have this quality restaurant so close to home and will certainly be back again.

The service was above standard and personal being a nice little hole in the wall. The head chef even made the rounds to check up on the standard of food.

- dined at Project Tokyo on

AMAZING! Great service, unreal food - the flavours were outstanding. Japanese Degustation, although the booking required us to be in an out in the hour and a half i was a little worried about this, however each dish we ordered came out separately and it was perfect! WE WILL BE BACK!

MAGNIFICENT FOOD

My wife and I made a booking for this Restaurant through First Table and it has been one of the best Restaurants we have dined at on the Gold Coast. The food was truly magnificent and the presentation was brilliant. There were 4 people working in the kitchen and 2 waiters. Virtually no waiting time even as the Restaurant got busy. There is easy access for walkers and wheelchairs. The toilets are not in the Restaurant but across the carpark as they are part of the shopping centre complex. The toilets were clean and well maintained. The Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and making a booking is highly recommended. The Restaurant opened 5 months ago and is obviously very popular. The staff were so accommodating, knowledgeable and delightful to talk to. The mastery demonstrated in food preparation and the tastes behold the world wide experience of the master chef. I highly recommend the Omakase Besuto dinner course. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing food and even better service.

- dined at Project Tokyo on

This was my second time dining here and although I was not as impressed as the first time, the food was still good. My partner and I got the omakase menu. The edamame came out very peppery and was missing the delicious garlic it has last time. The chips had a sauce that was a bit spicier than I remember and the tuna also had quite a lot of pepper. Otherwise the rest of the meal was fantastic. The quality of their food is great and when seasoned correctly is truly an incredible meal. Their service is also top notch! Will definitely be back and hope we get to experience the great seasonings for the food from our first visit.
