Inspired by the much-loved Roy’s by Gemelli in Sorrento, and named in honour of the Gemelli brothers’ late grandfather Rolando, Papa Rolly’s brings the soul of traditional Italian cooking to a laid-back, home-style setting in Carrara.

Papa Rolly’s offers the kind of atmosphere that feels like a big family dinner: lively, relaxed and full of laughter. Whether it is a first visit or a fiftieth, everyone is greeted like a long-lost cousin.

The menu reads like a greatest hits album of Italian comfort food. There are wood-fired pizzas, such as the patate, topped with mozzarella, roasted potatoes, Spanish onion and house-made Italian sausage; or a rich rigatoni lamb ragù, slow-cooked in crushed San Marzano tomatoes and finished with parmesan, just as Nonna would proudly serve. It is feel-good food, made with heart and a whole lot of flavour.
