Go big and bold with a meal at Momoda, which serves Chinese street food with a cheeky contemporary twist.

Momoda is Chinese slang for ‘mwah’ and it’s impossible not to fall in love with the industrial chic vibe and buzzy energy of this hip little hideaway.

Tuck into salmon tartare from the raw bar, market-fresh shellfish, mouthwatering meat dishes, filling rice bowls and an excellent selection of salads, pickles and vegetarian stir-frys.

Stand out dishes include ox cheek braised for 14-hours and Peking pig ear with prune vinegar, although when the food is this packed with authentic flavours, you can’t go far wrong.

An enormous drinks list is equally satisfying. Stay local with a selection of New World wines, or be whisked away to China with an Oriental-inspired cocktail. Our order is the Leng Lui, a fragrant blend of elderflower, vodka, lavender and lychee liqueur.

Their sister restaurant, Wild Duck, is more formal but equally delicious.

We arrived few minutes after 5 pm on Saturday evening and were surprised to see a third of the restaurant filled with diners already. The service was above the average with the waiter re-filling our glasses with water during the evening. The food was great, the signature dish, Momoda fried rice was fabulous, the flavours were so interesting, unusual, and so tasty. Fantastic food! We’ll be coming back.

We chose quite a few small dishes and I’m so glad we did. The pulled duck buns were a great start. The cauliflower san Choy bowl was different to what I thought it would be, but better. The crispy eggplant was delicious. We can’t wait to go there again.

The service was excellent and the food was very delicious. My kids especially loved the pulled duck bun and the dumplings. We all enjoyed the very mouth-watering black pepper crab, the sweet yet tangy eggplant and the fried rice was superb.

We will definitely come and dine here again for sure.

We had a girls weekend to Canberra, not sure of any restaurants there it’s always a lucky dip. Wow we got the jack pot with Momoda. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown our seat. The ambience was calming and quite, perfect for our catch up. We ordered the duck bun( best entree, tempted to order another), fungi spring roll, pork and chive dumplings, bokchoy and cabbage dumplings, lotus chips and cauliflower san Choy bowl.
After all of this, how can it get better?
Slow cooked Ox Cheek and spatchcock !! The flavours were spot on and cemented the positive night we were having.
We definitely will recommend to friends in Sydney travelling to Canberra !

My partner and I went to Minoda for dinner on a Friday night. We arrived at 5pm and were seated immediately. We order the $49pp feed me. I am vegetarian and the waiter kindly changed some of the menu items for vegetarian food. First course consisted of lotus chips and edamame beans. The lotus chips were delicious with a chilli sauce. The edamame beans smoky and spicy. Next course was my favourite - mushroom buns which were full of flavour. Next were vegetarian dumplings for me and cheeseburger dumplings for him. The main was fried rice, crispy eggplant and spatchcock. Overall we couldn't fault the food and the service was very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to coming back!

Definitely worthwhile trying this place. The food tasted great and was generous for the price. It was a bit busy though so it took a number of attempts getting someone's attention as we had been waiting for our dessert for a while and to pay for the bill.

Service was lovely, got our table straight away. Food was good, we got the feed me tasting menu, was a great way to try a little it of everything on the menu. The pork belly was lovely! And the little mushroom burger was a nice surprise.

A series of wonderful dishes backed up by some of the best service. Great menu not over load with 1001 choices rather a a sampling of the top dishes.The pork and chive dumplings were tasty and the sauce accompanying them was a perfect blend of spice and seeetness. The Cheese burger dumplings were sensational. The Scallop mains, the pork belly and the typhoon rice were all sensational.

This was our first time at Momoda. We invited a couple of friends visiting from out of town and had a really nice evening. Despite reading the menu and reviews ahead of time, the food was not quite what we had planned. A lot more Anglo Chinese than what we expected, but still very delicious. We ordered heaps of things off the menu, including a variety of dumplings, the duck buns, the pork belly, the short ribs platter, crispy eggplant and Chinese veggies. The Chinese veggies were sooo yum and cooked to perfection, and the sauce on the crispy eggplant was delicious. We were surprised that the pork dumplings were deep fried (a note on the menu would be nice as two in the group couldn't eat as a result) and the duck buns tasted more like american sliders than a traditional Chinese bun. But, as said, food was still good all around and we all left full and happy. Wait staff was attentive but non-intrusive and the food came out very quickly. Overall, a positive dining experience! We had a lovely dinner at Momoda! The food was impressive and with such a wide variety of modern Chinese dishes, we always look forward to trying out Momoda's dishes. Favourite dishes of the night were the King Brown Mushroom burger, Grandma's pork belly and Typhoon Fried Rice. Still love the old favourite Yuxiang Eggplant but didn't have it this time.

Service was fantastic and prompt. Highly recommend Momoda for a great dining experience!

Momoda offers a really different menu and our table of 4 couldn't agree on the most favourite item of the night as there were so many, like Mongolian style kangaroo spring roll, Kingbrown mushroom bun, Black pepper softshell crab, the Double cheeseburger dumpling (was a lot of fun) and Mung bean dessert. The Feed Me menus offer a great selection of the menu items. Food is full of different flavours and textures. The staff were friendly and attentive. We would all definitely recommend it.
