Every ime we visit Cairns one of our first places to visit is Bay Leaf. We think it’s one of the best Balinese restaurants outside of Bali. To see so many diners on a Monday evening is proof of a great appreciation by the locals. We ate with a foodie local, who’s final comment was “the best food I’ve eaten in Cairns.” We enjoyed the ambience, the aromas and of course most importantly the food. We felt like we were in Bali. From Sate’s served on a terracotta grill, to fresh and zingy lawar, followed by a rich duck and papaya curry, a wonderful mix of of succulent seafood in a lightly spiced turmeric simmer, to the show stopping meaty and juicy pork ribs (sorry vegetarians), each mouthful was a Balinese delight. Would we return, YES, maybe even again on this short visit.

Yum yum yum! For entrees we had the skewers which came out on a little coal grill! They were sizzling away and smelt absolutely divine! My mouth was watering as I watched the waiter approach our table! Next we had the banquet to share and had 5 different curries, duck parcels and the grilled fish! Wow - we definitely weren’t leaving Bayleaf hungry that’s for sure! I can never make up my mind when I’m reading a menu and this way I got to try so many things and each one of them was delicious! But to choose one we would go the duck parcels or the chicken curry (also the coconut beef curry as amazing!)... please don’t make me choose just one! To finish we had a tower of dessert! With fresh fruit, brownies, raspberry tart and sticky rice pudding. What an incredible meal. Also shout out to our waiters - the service was great. We’ll definitely be back! :)

The food was absolutely Incredible, I'd say it's one of the best resturants in Cairns to be honest. I had the special of the day, which was a masterpiece. I don't remember the name of the dish, but it was a beef stew with Cinnamon that was out of this world! Missus had the seafood combo which she really enjoyed too.

Firsttablebooking is such a generous, grand idea for the community. Thank you to the developers of this business.

And, Thank You to all the restaurants who do not shy away providing us customers with great meals and 50% off our bill.

I don't have children....but, how beautiful for big families to be able to have the opportunity to enjoy a night out more often than what their budget allows.

Absolutely fantastic experience.

It was superb dinner. Unfortunately our eyes were way bigger than our stomachs so we can not finish amazing main meals which was braised beef with coconut milk and Tofu and mushroom dish. They not only have amazing dish but also friendly staff members. I definitely recommend to try this restaurant. You will be spoiled.

We had the set menu for 4 of us, not being very sure if it was enough for us, but turned out to be plenty or a bit too much.
Entrees were lovely, especially the satays. Duck mince was good, too. The mains were mostly curries and enjoyed the varieties of flavours and meat/seafood. Desserts were nice, too.
Over all, great food and plenty of them. The only thing is that I wish we had more salad/veges and less curries.
The service was excellent. Asked for extra chilli and pickles which came quickly with smile.
Definately go back and try other dishes on the menu.
Thank you!

It was my first time dining at Bayleaf but my partner had dined there many times before.
The service was fantastic, it’s always nice when wait staff have a nice conversation with you and you can have a laugh.
They were very relaxed and didn’t approach us too many times - unlike other restaurants that make you feel rushed. They responded promptly to requests and nothing was a hassle.

The food - it was all cooked perfectly and my partner enjoyed it all so much. It wasn’t for me, but I can appreciate the flavors and cuisine and would still recommend the place to friends.
There were plenty of options from gluten free, vegetarian and vegan, so anyone could dine here.

We went the Bayleaf for my father's birthday dinner and the service was wonderful. My mum can't tolerate spicy food, and the waitress really helped her to find something good. I'm vegetarian, and she suggested a good dish for me as well. The food was displayed beautifully and we had a wonderful night.
