Hemingway's is a solace by the sea that offers the best coffee, breakfast, lunch and of course dinner.

With bookshelves lining the walls, the low lighting and the portrait of the gentleman himself, you’ll feel as though you’re in Hemingway's library.

The modern Australian bar menu comes attached to an encyclopaedia, a dictionary or a children's book, listing the likes of chips with oxtail gravy, gourmet fish fingers and chicken schnitzel sliders.

This cosy cafe/bar is the ultimate writer's den - seemingly a world away from Manly’s sunny beach culture.

This funky little place is a Manly favourite and a must try!

Great vibes and yummy food. Loved the spicy cocktail too!

wonderful experience, ftom the moment we walked through the door. Arrived before our reservation time to enjoy a drink and the glorious ocean views. We were greeted warmly, and had great recommendations from the bar. Smbirnce lovely, surrounded by books, pictures, and quotes by Hemingway. Food was delicious, and very attentive service. Couldnt fault Hemingways. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We love Hemmingways. After a break of a few months we were a little cautious given the rapidly changing nature of restaurants in sydney! But we we greeted again with the consistently good food and still quite authentically French - always love the lamb!! The two fish dishes our friends ordered seemed a little pared back on this occasion... although still good quality and very tasty (apparently) those two meals presented more like a restaurant serving “contemporary Australia” food than bistro French... A tarte tartin to finish for the one gourmande amongst us was reportedly rich and tasty. Love the wine list with wines from our favourite French regions. Hope
the lovely owners stay true to their French roots- if so- we’ll be back!

We had a great night dining at Hemingway’s! We’d only previously been for breakfast, which we already love, but dinner also did not disappoint. The service was attentive and fast, the food was delicious and mixed in with a bit of live music, this made for an overall great dining experience. Would recommend that you get along and make the most of the great happy hour deals!

We enjoyed everything about our dining experience at Hemmingways. The staff were engaging and informative and the food excellent! We loved the ambiance of the place and will enjoy another time there in the daytime to check out how it feels at that time of day. Those after a quaint and quiet spot to enjoy some time together.. this is it!

We arrived at Hemingway's after a lovely stroll on Manly Beach, catching the ferry across from the city is a real treat to someone who doesn't really live around the area. But we were delighted from the beginning at Hemingway's with the uniqueness of the restaurant, great location and delicious, different types of food.
The service staff were friendly, and gave you the coolest style of drink menu I have ever seen, stapled to older books we got more distracted reading the book than reading the menu!
The overall highlight was definitely their unique chicken nuggets, would go back regularly just for these!
Thank you Hemingway's for a lovely evening.

Fabulous atmosphere in this little gem of a restaurant/bar. Love the décor, drinks and food options. Staff were friendly and welcoming, particularly given the fact we dined with a couple of wild children! (Def wish to return without the kids and some friends instead one time and sample more of the drinks list!) Recommend the nuggets and the falafel from the starters list - yum!

This was a fabulous experience! The food was exceptional, we shared the 5-cheese platter and then tucked in to a steak with spicy wedges & the lamb stew. Everything was cooked to perfection! The champagne and wine was delicious and the service first class...... Finally, the atmosphere was enhanced by live music which suited the location perfectly! A night to remember in a great venue!

Definitely a new regular for us! The cauliflower nuggets are a new favourite; the steak was perfect; mushroom sauce very tasty. And as for the parmesan truffle fries... mmmm. Friendly and efficient service topped off a great visit which included happy hour drink prices!!

Thank you First Table ! I had walked past Hemingway's on many occasions thinking it was just a cool looking coffee house, but you allowed me to discover it is so much more. Small and intimate, but with a great vibe - and a proper restaurant with quality food that I would not have guessed from the outside. But I suppose that's what First Table is all about - encouraging us with great value offers to find and try new places which then become old favourites ...as Hemingway's will be for us.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Hemingway's in Manly. A small vibrant bar/restaurant with a warm, inviting French inspired atmosphere, it attracted singles, couples and small groups on the Saturday night we went. Service was excellent.

Unfortunately my friends and I didn’t enjoy the dining experience at Hemingway’s. We were disappointed to find a very limited menu that was difficult to see because of the poor lighting. I realise the idea was to create ambience but this shouldn’t be at the expense of all 4 of us (and others I noticed in the restaurant) being unable to read it. I’d been told that there was a bigger variety of hamburgers available at lunchtime but when I asked why there was only one choice on a Saturday night and that was only vegan, the waitress said’ That’s the only choice’. In other words, no other choice. We aren’t vegans and it’s not a vegan only restaurant so it didn’t make sense.
We chose fish and chips with fries and salad. However, when it came it was really a big shallow bowl of tons of chips( 2/3 of the plate/bowl to make up for the small pieces of unappetising fish and 3 lettuce leaves) and 3 small pieces of fish that didn’t resemble the flathead fillets as per the menu. Oh and there were 3 small limp lettuce leaves. That doesn’t constitute a salad! The waitress asked were we happy with our meal and we gave an honest answer which was most disappointing. She took that onboard and said she’d convey they to the chef.
I can’t see us returning to Hemingway’s and won’t be recommending it to family or friends.

Cozy and relaxed for a 6.30 pm early dinner. We took our 11 & 12 year old, so a party of 4. Plenty of sharing food for all. Delicious food and the wine was good. Will return without children next time.

Hemingway's at Manly is an excellent little restaurant. The atmosphere is really warm and inviting and if you're a book lover you'll really appreciate the decor. The service was excellent and so was the food. We had the Chicken nuggets (delicious!) and the Charcuterie & Cheese plate for entree which was probably more than we needed but what the hell :-) My wife had the Steak Tartare which she loved while I had the Fish and Chips which was very tasty. Our son really enjoyed his Three Cheese Pizza. We were too full to order dessert but overall really enjoyed our experience at Hemingway's and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a delicious and informal meal on the beach at Manly.

Good fish and chips. We ordered the sweet potato wedges instead of the chips and it was amazing. All 3 of us really enjoyed the meal. Staff very helpful and friendly. It was good to sit inside. Bonus was to get there early about 6.30pm for dinner as it's not too noisy and then stroll along the beach. Great easy going night.

We had for starters the 3 Hemingway's special - the chicken nuggets and cauliflower nuggets were delicious! For main my wife had the 4 cheese pizza, she said it was ok nothing special and I had the sirloin steak with sweet potato chips and mushroom sauce - steak was cooked perfectly and the chips were really good, the sauce was a bit boring but the only think that really disappointed me was eat the steak without a steak knife - not fun!
We had chocolate mousse and creme burle for dessert and they were delicious! Overall experience was great!

This is a return visit - last time was mid-winter so we wanted to try a summer visit and we enjoyed the cauliflower nuggets and truffle parmesan fries so much the first time, we had them again - didn't disappoint! We added the chicken nuggets and falafel share plate which was good too. Unfortunately the chorizo pizza was off the menu - run out of chorizo!? - but we tried the mushroom pizza which was yummy, just not what we were hoping to try.Very friendly staff.
