Platform 270's new Head Chef has taken influences from his culinary roots to create a menu with a strong focus on delicate Asian flavours, married harmoniously with local Australian produce. To be honest we didn’t have high expectations from a hotel restaurant but were wowed with the food. My husband had the fish which he described as delicious while I opted for the 300grm ribeye which turned out to be one of the best I’d ever had - big juicy and perfectly cooked. We shared 3 sides all of which were great in their own right and then shared the chocolate mousse for dessert. While the mousse was dense and yummy the accompanying pistachio ice-cream was to die for, I’ll go back for this alone. Service was professional. Overall this was a great experience and fantastic value. The hip industrial interior adds atmosphere, and the location, a skip from Finders station make it an easy reach. Give it a go!

Service let the night down, manager was on his phone when we arrived, asked to order drinks and no one came back. We were not asked about or topped with water, I had to get up and pour it myself. We weren’t meal checked all through out the entire 3 courses and we ordered steaks. I ordered herb butter with my steak and the steak wasn’t warm enough to melt it so I was just left with two cold slabs of butter for sauce. As it was my partners birthday we asked for a candle in his dessert but it came with a tea light! We would expect so much more from the Hilton and we’re really disappointed as without our discount it would have been a $400 bill and you would hope the service would reflect that.

We really enjoyed our meal at Platform 270. The service was quick, the atmosphere and setup was nice, and the food was great. Make sure you get a side of their fries, which we almost wanted a second lot of! The booking coinciding with Happy Hour drink prices was a nice surprise too. We look forward to coming back again when next in Melbourne.

Food was fantastic! Service was a bit rushed to start with. The waiter was clearly busy being the only one to start with so dropped the personal touch which was a shame. The Chef ended up serving us our mains which was greatly appreciated as we enjoyed the extremely well
