We arrived after a long day of travel and preparation commitments. The ease with which the staff welcomed us and catered to our needs was phenomenal. We needed a little TLC and time to recoup energies. Perfect over a lovely meal at Podilato in the early quiet of a Canberra evening.

A lovely Friday night dinner out. We enjoyed a shared entree followed by a main and a dessert and all that we tried was well presented and tasty. We were also very happy with the friendly and efficient service. We are happy to recommend this restaurant and hope to return soon ourselves.

Right from the start our waitress was bubbly and friendly and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Which was fantastic as i can feel a bit awkward/uncomfortable being the first people to enter a restaurant for the night. She gave ample time for us to peruse the drinks menu and then food menu before asking. My husband took her suggestion on the red wine and liked it enough he had a 2nd glass.
The food was amazing. Have to say the nicest antipasto plate I've had in a long time, maybe ever. The whole meal was fantastic. The waitress added to the wonderful atmosphere. She definitely suits a customer service role.

The only critique, if you can even call it that, is we would have appreciated a little longer between the antipasto plate and the rest of the food. But that was very minor and quick service is always better than slow service.

Overall was a wonderful evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I highly recommend this place.

Nice little spot, with friendly staff and great food.

Everything went right from the start. Cheap outer city parking under the building set the scene. As were on a First table booking we arrived within happy our which was a lovely bonus. We were seated at a window table and excitedly watched the new Canberra Tram stop on the nearby corner.
We were tempted by the extensive tapas menu but decided on just main meals. The Barramundi and the Chicken meals did not disappoint us, and the side of chips were crisp and lovely. The dessert menu was very inviting, the hardest part was choosing what to have. Definitely a place to add to our favourite places.

The food and service were top quality and we will definitely go there again. Our waitress Miray was friendly and went the extra mile to ensure we had a positive dining experience.

Great casual dining. Service was friendly and we ordered the feast which gave us way more food than we could eat, including desert, between the four of us. Family friendly environment. Location is in the new Mantra hotel on corner of MacArthur Ave and Northbourne between Lyneham and Turner not CBD so not walking distance if in city (drive, tram, bus or ride).

What a great find! Nestled in the first floor of Mantra on Macarthur, this cafe style restaurant has a simple relaxed vibe. We enjoyed winding down after work. Absolutely delicious Greek based tapas style eating that had us completely satisfied, so I will need to go back to try their delicious sounding mains!

The veal beef and prosciutto meatballs were the standout dish for us... we almost ordered more.
The haloumi bites were really good. Prawns saganaki had good flavor and texture, and we fought over the last one!
We finished with the lamb gyro (deconstructed for me as I’m on low carb) and the lamb pita pizza for my mate. Most, tender and falling apart!

Great attentive service from Myra!

We had a delicious dinner last night at Polidato. The menu had great Mediterranean choices and all of the dishes we tried were full of flavor. Our favorites of the night were the arancini balls and orange brûlée tart. The staff were friendly and professional - they even packed a takeaway bag when we ordered more than we could eat!
Polidato is a great choice for a casual, tasty meal close to the city. We will be coming back again :)

On arrival we were greeted with a big smile and shown to our seats, Mel was our server for the evening, the menu was explained to us, and we decided on the Spartan Feast which I must say was delicious and filling, we were very happy with our experience and will be visiting again soon.

We had a great experience at Podalito using First Table.

This was the first time using First Table and we expected the staff to not be aware of the discount, or have to ask for it (which we hate doing), but we didn't have the mention it once, and our service wasn't impacted by getting such a good discount either. We arrived on time for our booking, and were not rushed through our meal at all as we watched the sunset from the balcony.

As for the dining experience, the staff were so accommodating and able to answer all our questions. We ordered the banquet for two, which we were surprised was available with the First Table discount. The food was exceptional, especially the Mushroom Arancini and the Chocolate Semi-Freddo dessert.

Highly recommend Podilato for their service and food, and we will of course being using First Table many more times in the future!

Great antipasto plate to start was a stand out the pita bread and feta they were super. We followed that with seafood pasta, calamari, pork belly and chicken wings (over 8 in the serve) everything was great. Then the mini donuts and cheesecake. Service was perfect, attentive, helpful but not in your face but never had to ask for anything. Who can ask for more!

I had a fantastic experience at Podilato!
From the moment we walked in, the service was faultless. The staff were lovely.
The antipasto was perfect and their wine menu is comprehensive.
The tapas we ordered to share were full of flavour, refined, and great portions.
The Beetroot Carpaccio is definitely a winner, as are the Lara tax Bravas - absolutely delicious.
Dessert was just as flavoursome :)
To stay at a hotel with such a fantastic restaurant is an absolute winner. Not to mention getting the First Table. Fabulous!
I will definitely go back for dinner, a great restaurant for Canberra.
A+ :)

Thank you we loved your restaurant the service was fantastic nothing was a problem and all done with beautiful smile and can do attitude. The food was fantastic there was four of us and two had the spartan which was a a banquet and they loved all of it. The other two we had some tapas and The fish and the chicken mains and no complaints the fish was cooked perfectly and the chicken was succulent and tasty. Thanks for a great night we’ll be back.

Podilato is an open plan big windows lots of natural light cafe style restaurant.
So casual and relaxed was our experience.
Our table was ready ( reserved ) and service organised and attentive and I have to say happy!
Admittedly it was quiet so the food served quickly.
We all enjoyed the Tapas. It gave us a small sampling of the Mediterranean flavours. Sizes perfect which allowed us to share a very sweet delicious donut dessert.

A slight hiccup with payment ( New staff).. sorted quickly efficiently no fuss manner.

Would like to try again especially as the layout lends itself to quiet drinks on the balcony in warmer evenings.
So thank you First Table & Podilato.

This is the second time we have visited Podilato and weren't disappointed! Great food and service!

Overall a pretty good experience.

Service was ok as it was a bit busy and there were only 1 person running the tables initially, and then another came along soon after.

Very casual setting with a wide view out onto Macarthur Ave and the light rail along Northbourne.

Food was served relatively quickly after ordering. We had the pita lamb pizza (delicious and generous lamb!! Small portion as it is a tapas dish for sharing), lemon pepper squid (highlight dish of the evening, well-seasoned and squid cooked just nice that even my non-squid-eater wife ate a few of them!), veal meatballs (read reviews raving about this one but it wasn't that special to us. Reminded us of an improved version of Subway's meatballs and I mean this in a good way.), lamb shoulder gyros (tastes good and is a good portion considering the [discounted] price but we always compare gyroses against the ones we had in Greece so that might be a bit unfair...) and the spaghetti (very generous toppings with several prawns and heaps of other protein but a tad too salty for my liking).

For dessert, we had the chocolate fondant (standout dish of the night! - warm and well-done fondant with well-balanced saltiness from the ice-cream and popcorn), the panna cotta (interesting textures with the fairy floss going with the panna cotta. Nice one) and the chocolate cannoli (not a huge fan of these but was told by rest of the crew that it was ok. Super-well-priced at discount prices though!)

Fed us well without bloating us at the end. 8 items at less than $15/person is a bargain!! Would come back again. :)

This restaurant felt more like a bar than a restaurant to us. The staff were friendly and attentive. Food was served in good time. The tapas was absolutely beautiful, I’m still daydreaming about the prawns and the beetroot salad.
Not sure why the mains were so pricey. They were nice but I wouldn’t pay almost $40 for them.
Would definitely return for the tapas though. Wine list was good too. Nice place.

The food, ambience, and service at Podilato is spot on. We booked a table for four and everyone enjoyed the arancini balls. The gyros were also delicious. The desserts (chocolate fondant and filo pie) were great. Beautiful ice cream included with the desserts. The food came out quite quickly.

The restaurant was perfectly heated for a Canberra winter. The background music was at a good volume and the room is built well so that we could easily hear each other and hold a conversation.

The only very minor issue was that when the bill came, it was still charged at the full price but I told the waiter that we were booked with First Table and it was easily fixed.

Everyone was very impressed with Podilato and my friends said they would come again.

The restaurant had convenient parking once we found that it was located in the Mantra hotel.
We enjoyed a banquet of tapas which were all fresh and tasty.
We were not in a hurry which was a good thing since despite not being busy the wait staff were slow and not very attentive.
The restaurant had a casual cafe sort of feel but was comfortable and clean.
It would go there again, especially with 50% off

When we first arrived I was worried the place may lack an atmosphere as it’s tucked away in a hotel, I soon discovered I was wrong.

Service was excellent and definitely something I would return for. The food, however, was a bit hit and miss, The starter was nice, and so were the arancini balls. The rocket salad was ordinary and the chorizo had too much vinegar. The meatballs need some refining, with a sauce that was too strong and pastey. The panna coota was tasty and subtle. I would perhaps rethink the pairings of food in the banquet.

Food was great, though a lot of garnishes involved fetta, and I would have appreciated some variety. As we got the Spartan Feast, which involved multiple courses we were forgotten half way through and then rushed through at the end. We did feel low priority. Decor was lovely, location good.

We had a 2 person banquet which was lovely. Plenty of food and a nice variety. The desserts were amazing and definitely worth another visit. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It was difficult to find and is in the Mantra building on the 1st floor. Parking is also hard to fin. There is some in the Mantra carpark.

Great unrushed meal despite them being unexpectably very, very busy. We had the Spartan Feast and enjoyed every course. Plan on returning.

- dined at Podilato on

My companions and I all enjoyed the delicious food, my steak was cooked to perfection, the jus however was a little thick, more like a gravy but still delicious.
I’m in agreeance with a previous review made, ‘the attentiveness of the wait staff could be improved.’
Only drawback would be, and this is not the fault of the restaurant but what limited parking is available is costly.
