To the sound of New Orleans jazz, soak up some southern hospitality and a dash of French flair at Bourbon Street.

With a menu that is all about sharing, Bourbon Street offers a vibrant taste of Creole-inspired dining in the heart of South Brisbane.

Why not try Bourbon Street’s Beignets, a New Orleans-style fritter and one of the most popular dishes on the menu? Or, for something a little heartier there are plenty of southern delights on offer like Jambalaya, Gumbo and Chowder. Beignets feature again on the dessert menu; this time served with caramel sauce and ice cream.

Choose to dine alfresco on the ‘porch’ or take a table inside. Bourbon Street’s décor is part rustic, part French café, part Mardi Gras and never dull.

Fans of absinthe will delight at Bourbon Street’s dedication to the enigmatic spirit; an entire selection of cocktails made from the ‘green fairy’. For those less adventurous there is a more innocent cocktail list as well as a wide selection of wine and beer.

The good thing about First Table is that, even if the food and service are somewhat average, I feel justified in eating out due to First Table. This experience was an exception; the first disappointing meal I've had since joining First Table. It's not that the food was awful... just strange.

When you order calamari, you generally know what to expect: a bowl of flash or deep fried rings or strips, with a dipping sauce on the side. At Bourbon Street, it came out delicately placed on a long platter as though I had ordered some fancy sushi. This was fine. What was not, however, was the promised side salad which very literally consisted of FOUR spinach leaves, a couple of slices of onion and ONE cherry tomato cut in half. It was more like a garnish than a salad.

The bizarre portion sizes continued when the waitress brought out our mac and cheese with truffle and mushrooms. The moment she placed it on the table, she picked it up again to confirm with the chefs it was the right dish and not the alternative plain mac and cheese option. When she returned with the bowl, I understood her confusion. The mushroom pieces were about the size of an ant and were few and far between.

Other than that, our other dishes - prawns, chicken wings and lamb chops - were just fine, as was the service.

I ordered the steak and it was absolutely delicious! Also had the fritter and my goodness was not expecting them to be so big! Had to take the rest of them home ;)

The food here is unbelievable. We've been in brisbane about 5 months and this might be the best food we've had yet...
The staff were friendly and helpful.
South bank is lovely as always.
100% will be back. I need to try the rest of the menu. It would be rude not to with a cheeky First Table

It was such a lovely restaurant, good food and vibes. If you order the beignet, there is quite a bit on there so it's a good dessert to share. The service was nice and timely.

Great atmosphere and lovely staff. My partner enjoyed his meat dishes very much but I'd love to see more vege/vegan options!

Friday night FirstTable before the theatre, the southern mood was set with a two piece band - jazz guitar and trumpet - and bourbon cocktails on order (they also have happy hour prices on beer and wine before 6pm).

First up we ate calamari (tender and spiced) and corn & jalapeño beignets (like a savoury donut/dumpling with a spicy coating and corn salsa) - both delicious and packing some spicy heat. Mains was a trio of Louisiana specialities (chicken stew, southern fried rice and tasty meat balls) and for me - spice blackened barramundi with mango salsa and rice. Again, both were delicious. We accompanied our mains with a glass of wine.

Service of drinks was a little slow, but our food came out in reasonable time. The Brazilian waitress was the most efficient of the staff we saw - the others seemed a little new and still learning the ropes.

We enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and, being the closest weekend to 31 October, watching the parade of hallowe'en costumes pass by in South Bank.

Great vibe, live music and plenty happening. Cajun food was tasty and plenty of it. The meatballs were a little cold when first served but that was quickly rectified and they turned out being our favourite thing on the menu apart from the AMAZING desserts!! So good!

The buttermilk fried chicken strips were so delicious as were the meatballs. Wasn't crazy about the bread and butter pudding but had such a fantastic dinner. Great spot with lovely service and nice, strong drinks. Will be back x

Very nice food and ambience. Our server was very helpful in deciding what to eat; she advised us on serving sizes and what would be easy to share.

Got there early, was seated and served promptly. We ordered 2 entrees, 2 mains and 2 desserts. Rated everything highly. The calamari was some of the best I've had. The spicy wings were lovely and good serving for entree. Hubby had lamb and I had the Cajun fish. Both tasty dishes. Bread pudding to compete the night. Food was lovely and everything came out quickly. Great night!

Great location, atmosphere, music and set up (definitely gave it the New Orleans feel). Food proportions were quite small in size. The Braised beef brisket was a really small serving with not much flavor, the Louisana style prawns were not creamy and the rice was a little dry but the Crispy braised pork belly which we ordered as a main was amazing. Overall we enjoyed our dinner but probably wont return as the items are quite overpriced for the proportions.

Popular spot on Grey Street. Food OK - didn't quite hit the "Louisiana Creole" advertising. Not the food I have had in New Orleans.
Nice vibe though.
Not really 'aware' of First Table. New on First Table?

A bit of a culinary let down, truth be told. Smallish portions of overpriced, somewhat bland and ordinary food. Service was nice and pleasant however. Probably won’t be returning.

Mum ordered the lamb cutlets, they were melting in the mouth delicious and a generous serve of 3 decent sized cutlets. I had the garlic prawns which had intense flavours, both of us were really happy with our meals. The cocktails on point (I had The Nice Guy) and service with a genuine smile. Lovely ambience with candlelit tables. Thank you guys, we will return!

Chicken wings are sooo crispy and delicious! Chicken Maryland delicious! We also had the platter with jambalaya, gumbo, beans and rice - my fav was the gumbo, my partners fav was the beans and rice, the jambalaya ok but together they were great and complemented each other. Also had the beetroot salad, they kindly put the beetroot on the side as I am the only one who enjoys it (: Serving sizes are generous and the staff could not have been happier or more willing to ensure our dining experience was fantastic. Will definitely return. Thank you!

My husband enjoyed his blackened dory, it was very tasty and well presented. I had the lamb cutlets, which the menu described, as on a bed of sweet potato mash, with a side salad. The side salad was a handful of baby spinach leaves under the cutlets! Not overly impressed with this but ate it, as I was hungry. Would I dine here again, probably not.

Had a fantastic time! Lovely decor very reminiscent of many bars and restaurants in New Orleans. Best beignets I've had since leaving the Big Easy. Try the jalapeño ones they're fab! Had the taster menu and it was a great way to try many dishes. Generous servings and lovely staff. Give it a try- sit outside for the breeze and people watching ops. Will be back!

Delicious food for four, with plenty of options for the gluten-intolerant diner. We chose a range of entrees to share: spicy wings, crispy pork belly, gumbo, garlic prawns, sweet potato fries, and a Bourbon St salad, which left no room for mains but two diner made room for a delicious banana dessert. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our meal at Bourbon Street Louisiana.
The calamari rings and Sirloin 350g streak with sweet potato fries were excellent , cooked to perfection.
We took advantage of the 50% off deal and the restaurant can validate your Southbank parking ticket which allows you to park after 5pm for only a $5.
We wil definitely visit this restaurant again.

2nd time we've been and still very happy! It's the perfect place for a pre-dinner show if you are going to QPAC. We were also able to take advantage of the $5 parking at Southbank as it is a participating restaurant. The pork belly and cajun barramundi were delicious. And a happy hour special of $1 for chips with a beer. We'll be back. Highly recommended!

Awesome dining experience. Very down south atmosphere. Even had the piano fired up.
We had a couple of entrees and mains, couldn't fault it.
The southern fried chicken was the best I have tasted and the calamari was top notch as well.
The wife had a steak and fries and was very happy with it. Nice and tender and cooked perfectly.
I had the shrimp étouffée and it was fantastic. Nice kick of spice without being over the top.
The kids had barramundi and chips and meatballs and chips. They devoured both the meals and said they were really good. I tasted the fish and was pleasantly surprised at how good the fish was. Usually find kids meals are like a second thought to most restaurants.
The staff were very attentive and nothing was an issue. Watching other diners food coming out of the kitchen really made us hungry and we were glad the food was very prompt.
Definitely going back as it's the best southern food I have had in Brissy.
