Cuisine: American (Traditional), Cajun / Creole
Price Point: Mains from $25 - $35

To the sound of New Orleans jazz, soak up some southern hospitality and a dash of French flair at Bourbon Street.

With a menu that is all about sharing, Bourbon Street offers a vibrant taste of Creole-inspired dining in the heart of South Brisbane.

Why not try Bourbon Street’s Beignets, a New Orleans-style fritter and one of the most popular dishes on the menu? Or, for something a little heartier there are plenty of southern delights on offer like Jambalaya, Gumbo and Chowder. Beignets feature again on the dessert menu; this time served with caramel sauce and ice cream.

Choose to dine alfresco on the ‘porch’ or take a table inside. Bourbon Street’s décor is part rustic, part French café, part Mardi Gras and never dull.

Fans of absinthe will delight at Bourbon Street’s dedication to the enigmatic spirit; an entire selection of cocktails made from the ‘green fairy’. For those less adventurous there is a more innocent cocktail list as well as a wide selection of wine and beer.

My friend and I shared plates and it was not only generous, but it was also delicious. We had the gumbo, Jambalaya, and the Pork belly. The pork belly was cooked to perfection.

I loved that we were not rushed and our plates were not whipped away and we were allowed to take our time and continue picking at our leisure.

The staff were very attentive and made sure that we had all we needed to enjoy our night. I totally recommend dining at Bourbon st and we will definitely be back!

Walking into New Orleans surrounded by a beautiful piano, plush velvet seating, and the old rustic look of a back alley restaurant.
Cuisine was Devine, a touch of American southern cooking tantalising our eyes on the plate. The staff were friendly attentive and so helpful when we asked how to play Dominoes which was provided on our table whilst waiting for our entree

We were holidaying in Brisbane and decided to try First Table. Glad we chose Bourbon Street as the food was the best we had on our trip! Recommend the prawns, and the barramundi - both were absolutely delicious! Great size portions for sharing a few dishes.

We went along to Bourbon street for our anniversary, and honestly the food was so beautiful. Had always wanted to try Gumbo and I wasn’t disappointed at all. It’s a beautiful little restaurant, and definitely grammable, so make sure you share on your socials so all your friends know where to go!

We had garlic bread and it was average. For mains I had the gumbo and it was delicious! There was so much flavour in there, i would recommend this! My partner had the sirloin steak and it was not too bad, the salad with the steak was superb! We finished off with the beignet and it was so yuuuum.

I would definitely come back again! Also the staff were all so friendly!

Great food and exceptional value, even at full price. The chicken burgers were delicious, prawns perfectly cooked, and the mixed fried worth going back for even if it’s just a quick snack. We’ll definitely be back.

Lovely restaurant fitout with nice lighting. Lots to choose from. The corn bread with mushroom sauce was amazing. Don't go passed it. Super friendly staff. Some tables have games on them. Service was quick and they were busier than expected for a Wednesday night. Super happy with our experience.

I loved the cajun barramundi! We all enjoyed our meals, the friendly service and the location. For something different to Asian or Italian try it, you'll like it and its very reasonably priced ... even at full price!

Loved the thematic elements to the restaurant as well as the unique food style. It made for a wonderful experience that differs from the standard food offerings.

Super impressed with the corn bread starter and creme brulee dessert. The mains had plenty of flavour and were great to share but could be overpowering on their own.

Good food, service could have been better. Like we weren’t offered water or asked how our meals were. Also never offered dessert or more drinks. More attentive would have been good but otherwise good would come back for the food

Very tasty meal. The gumbo was a highlight but everything was flavourful with just the right amount of spiciness. Would definitely recommend.

Service was great. Cocktails were great and food was nice. Plenty of GF and DF options for me.
The kids chicken was spicy, so they replaced it with fish, the least spicy kids meal.
Would recommend the restaurant reconsider the kids menu. Having said that, they handled it beautifully & we would return :-)

Great little venue for a relaxing Friday dinner. Service was fabulous, food was delicious - it was the perfect spot for a family dinner overlooking the bustle of Grey Street. The games and decks of cards on the tables are a nice touch too.

We enjoyed our dinner at Bourbon Street something different and very tasty. The corn and jalapeño beignets were great. We also had jambalaya And ribs. They have. Happy hour between 5 and 6 on some beer and wine which makes it a great deal. The staff need to understand there deals a bit better. Our first waitress explained the deals but other staff did not know about them but we’re good at sorting things out when we pointed it out to him. Also when we came to pay the first table discount had not been applied and the waiter had to check with the chef as he knew nothing about the booking or the deal. Good night but staff need to be a bit better informed

Great little restaurant. Very tasty food. Asian female manager was brilliant, young gentleman waiter very inexperienced and needs training immediately. Great sangria too

The good thing about First Table is that, even if the food and service are somewhat average, I feel justified in eating out due to First Table. This experience was an exception; the first disappointing meal I've had since joining First Table. It's not that the food was awful... just strange.

When you order calamari, you generally know what to expect: a bowl of flash or deep fried rings or strips, with a dipping sauce on the side. At Bourbon Street, it came out delicately placed on a long platter as though I had ordered some fancy sushi. This was fine. What was not, however, was the promised side salad which very literally consisted of FOUR spinach leaves, a couple of slices of onion and ONE cherry tomato cut in half. It was more like a garnish than a salad.

The bizarre portion sizes continued when the waitress brought out our mac and cheese with truffle and mushrooms. The moment she placed it on the table, she picked it up again to confirm with the chefs it was the right dish and not the alternative plain mac and cheese option. When she returned with the bowl, I understood her confusion. The mushroom pieces were about the size of an ant and were few and far between.

Other than that, our other dishes - prawns, chicken wings and lamb chops - were just fine, as was the service.

I ordered the steak and it was absolutely delicious! Also had the fritter and my goodness was not expecting them to be so big! Had to take the rest of them home ;)

The food here is unbelievable. We've been in brisbane about 5 months and this might be the best food we've had yet...
The staff were friendly and helpful.
South bank is lovely as always.
100% will be back. I need to try the rest of the menu. It would be rude not to with a cheeky First Table

It was such a lovely restaurant, good food and vibes. If you order the beignet, there is quite a bit on there so it's a good dessert to share. The service was nice and timely.

Friday night FirstTable before the theatre, the southern mood was set with a two piece band - jazz guitar and trumpet - and bourbon cocktails on order (they also have happy hour prices on beer and wine before 6pm).

First up we ate calamari (tender and spiced) and corn & jalapeño beignets (like a savoury donut/dumpling with a spicy coating and corn salsa) - both delicious and packing some spicy heat. Mains was a trio of Louisiana specialities (chicken stew, southern fried rice and tasty meat balls) and for me - spice blackened barramundi with mango salsa and rice. Again, both were delicious. We accompanied our mains with a glass of wine.

Service of drinks was a little slow, but our food came out in reasonable time. The Brazilian waitress was the most efficient of the staff we saw - the others seemed a little new and still learning the ropes.

We enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and, being the closest weekend to 31 October, watching the parade of hallowe'en costumes pass by in South Bank.

Great vibe, live music and plenty happening. Cajun food was tasty and plenty of it. The meatballs were a little cold when first served but that was quickly rectified and they turned out being our favourite thing on the menu apart from the AMAZING desserts!! So good!
