This Adelaide institution has been bringing dynamic Indian food to discerning diners since 1979.
Conveniently located in Unley, The Snake Charmer has a cosy atmosphere thanks to wooden panelling and exotic rugs, and the service is every bit as warm as the decor.
Owner Munjela Watt and husband/head chef Andrew Watt have created a broad menu of authentic Indian flavours including curries, sharing platters, entrees and thalis. There’s even a dedicated vegetarian menu, featuring the likes of crispy potato bhaji and creamy korma in a decadent sauce.
While you’ll find all of your Indian favourites including fragrant tandoori and chicken tikka masala, expect a few surprises too. The lamb curry crepe, a tender blend of east and west finished with a cheese crust, is a delicious nod to Andrew’s classical French training.
With a drinks list ranging from fruity lassis to premium wine and a sumptuous selection of sweets freshly crafted in house, The Snake Charmer really does have something to suit every palate.
You know a restaurant is on to something when they still have a queue after being open for 40 years... Book now to guarantee your spot.

We don't go out much so this was a special event for us. On entering the Snake Charmer on Unley Road, SA we were greeted warmly by our friendly host who offered us a table wherever we wanted as it was a quiet Sunday evening and he wanted to accommodate my husband who is wheelchair bound (note - this restaurant and restrooms were 100% wheelchair friendly).
What a stunningly beautiful restaurant. Everywhere you looked it was special almost magical. Once seated we felt as though we had been transported to another place. A special place. Our host, who was also the owner of the restaurant was so professional and friendly. The table service, recommendations and explanation of the beautiful Indian foods on offer was brilliant. We were not disappointed. Our entree was an experience to remember. We ordered two different entrees so that we could try each other's. Both were exemplary. We were asked if we were ready for the main after about 10 minutes and I requested a little longer which was happily accommodated. With a nice break between entree and main we received our mains. Stupendous. There is no other word. If you want to eat pure and authentic Indian, this is the restaurant to go to. Brilliant service. Brilliant food. On leaving, I almost cried because our experience was so special and so wonderful. We will now always go back to the Snake Charmer in future to enjoy Indian and have a wonderful experience. Thank you Snake Charmer and First Table. Carola Bregenzer

The Snake Charmer is a classy Indian restaurant that we have frequented over many years. The food and the service has always been consistently good. The decor and ambience are pleasing, music is at a good volume for talking and overall it is just a lovely restaurant to dine at!

Beautiful little restaurant, much more cosy than your average Indian restaurant. The food all-round was quality, but in particular the curry mains!! Absolutely unreal. We both thought our curries were the best we’ve had in years. Super flavourful, just as spicy as we wanted, meat and veg perfectly cooked. Will definitely be back.

We had a very nice evening at The Snake Charmer with our 2 friends. All agreed it was the best Indian food we have ever tasted! Rich and full-bodied, authentic flavours and served nice and hot. The desserts were delicate, delicious and aesthetic. Our waitress, Prachi, was charming and attentive. Thank you First Table - we hadn't heard about this restaurant before seeing it on your website. We'll be back to introduce some more friends to this great restaurant.

We had not dined here for many years, very happy with the entire experience. Service was exceptional & food selections were different enough to ensure we return!
Shared great entrees of beef satay & an eggplant dish (thick slices fried in a ?besan flour - not your average Indian!
Mains were the tandoori platter & chicken biryani
Looking forward to getting back here!
