Thirsty Flamingo

Cuisine: A La Carte, Australian
Price Point: Mains from $20 - $35

Don your sunglasses and kick off your shoes, it’s always cocktail o’clock at the Thirsty Flamingo.

The Cairns Colonial Club’s newly refurbished poolside bar and restaurant is so relaxed it’s practically horizontal. Chilled music and plenty of sun loungers make this the perfect spot for soaking up some sun while tippling on killer cocktails, as well as indulging in mouthwatering cuisine served with a smile.

Start with a selection of sharing plates that can be enjoyed by the whole table before moving on to crowd-pleasers such as burgers, battered barramundi, handmade gnocchi with puttanesca sauce and steak served in onion jus. There is also a dedicated kids' menu for flamingo chicks.

Feeling a little sluggish after all that relaxing? Indulge in a chocolate espresso martini, or keep things classic with a selection of Australian wines and premium spirits.

Arrived and had a special place card on my table. It was relaxed dining, placing your order with the cashier and collecting your food, which is great for a casual dinner. The space was very open and well designed. The staff were all lovely and interacted well with customers. Our food was perfect!!! We got calamari and barramundi; the calamari would have to be some of the best I’ve ever had.
We also arrived at happy hour so we had 20% off drinks aswell as the 50% off food.

Overall enjoyed my time here, amazing food and drinks, nice staff, casual and relaxed dining!

Service was great, Entree was lovely Lamb Skewer & dessert was nice Orange cake. However the main absolutely disappointing! Cold steak which i was asked how i would like it cooked and that was Med Rare came out WELL DONE! Carrot puree was soo chunky!! The onion Jus... was just a pile of fried onions on top reminded me of a bunnings snag! Not impressed at all. Lucky it was only half the price, my goD!
