Reviews

This was our first experience booking through first table and at The Publishers Hotel. It was all so easy! When we arrived at the hotel, which was really busy in the bar. I explained I had a First Table reservation and was acknowledged straight away and looked after in a professional manor. The food and service were outstanding, we will return and recommend to our friends!! Thank you for a wonderful evening Publisher Hotel.

Our family had a fabulous dinner - we shared entrees and the mushroom arancini was my favourite. Every main meal was delicious, and generous too.
Service was quietly confident and very pleasant too, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend Publishers Hotel!

First time on First Table. Such a simple process. 50% of all food. No conditions about who eats what!
I had the sardines for entree and the pork belly and rosemary potatoes for main course. Eyes bigger than MY belly... delicious. My friend had the chicken which she loved and I can verify that the white chocolate something or other she had was delicious as the waiter gave me a spare spoon to have a taste! Yum.
This is a good venture. People happy to eat early get a good deal and the restaurants fill a table that would be empty!

Impeccable service from highly regarded Dylan (see other reviews!), what an asset to this little place. Quick service and easy to get in and out before our show. A highlight was the polenta chips (side dish) which had plenty of flavour. Only one vegetarian main option which was a little bit disappointing, but aside from that everything was reasonably nice for an affordable night out. Thanks!

Absolutely recommend the Publishers Hotel for dinner (any meal really). The food and service was faultless. The restaurant itself was beautiful and would suit couples looking for a intimate dinner experience. We were greeted as VIP guests and this continued throughout the night. A wonderful restaurant, offering delicious food in a beautiful setting. What more could you ask for?

The Publishers Hotel is one of Adelaide's best kept secrets, great location in the CDB for easy parking. Decor is a blend of history and modern chic. Service was fabulous and our food was delicious, extensive wine selection to accompany our meal. Will definitely be back :)

We had to sit in the bar because of a function in the dining room. That was ok. Especially as they let us change our original booking day.
The prosciutto wrapped scallops were outstanding and the prk ribs were delicious. My partner had a haloumi salad which was very good. The staff werefriendly and helpful.

From the moment we walked in we were blown away. In the back room we sat down to white table clothes and excellent service. The food was very well priced and with the First Table it was unbelievably affordable for such an excellent meal. We both had the chicken schnitzel which was massive but both enjoyed it so much we ate all of it! Will defiantly be coming back here soon:) Can not recommended it enough!

We were served by a gentleman with exceptional service making us feel very welcome. We ordered the rump steak, salmon and a side serve of fries.
The fries were a very large serve (too much for the 2 of us) full of crunchy shoestring fries (I hate places that advertise fries & serve chunky chips), the tomatoe sauce relish was yum.
Steal was perfectly cooked making a leaner rump steak still juicy.
Salmon was a little overcooked and skin was limp and not crispy, together with an over drizzle of oil, made it a very heavy dish. Overall this was the shortfall of the meal.
The 3 dishes we ordered all need a slight more seasoning which would have excelled the final score of the meals.

Excellent food, service and location. Wines were very good (as was the champagne) and food portions were a good size and not too big - steaks were cooked to perfection. We all loved the decor and rustic charm - along with the ambiance and friendly helpful staff. Job well done everyone and we'll definitely be back!

I must say the publishers hotel is a very pleasant surprise service was very good and attentive. First we had bruschetta which was very nice then I had the oysters and the friend I was with had the fried halloumi and for main the bouillabaisse and he had the salmon they were both delightful and the dessert was really over the top they have a platter of each different desserts and we had one each, one between us would have been plenty but it was a delightful experience we will certainly be going back so congratulations to a delightful Hotel

Brilliant! We'd been here for drinks before but didn't even see the dining area at the back. We will definitely be coming back to eat more often. Food is top quality at a good price even without the discount and the service was fantastic, can't fault any part of the experience. Thank you to Publishers Hotel.

Lovely restaurant with a great ambiance. Staff were very attentive but not overly so. Food was delicious and well proportioned. We chose to share a starters and dessert so we could taste more on the menu. Our individual main course were both well cooked and very tasty. The drinks menu is extensive and suits all depths of pocket. We shall return in the not too distant future.
